So at the moment I'm seeing if I can take a boat right throughout the war. Okay, to '44... fine, i wanna try and see '42.
Using SH3 commanders realistic career length, so Each time i simply create a new kaleun with the previous XO's name, using the same boat and in the same place, pickiing up where the previous commander left off.
Im onto my second bloke, who took over in november 1940 and it is currently june 41, we've just gone to war with russia. On his 6th patrol in May, Gottfried Freund made it out of port before returning to base due to sabotage - an issue with the fuel tanks left us with range for only 7000km to go to Freetown and back.
His 7th patrol has brought about the same problem! A journey to the same location has been again targetted by french partisans - no doubt the ones who kidnapped and killed my medic whilst we were in port.
Heads will roll when we return - this time we'll be making use of the supply ships, and not be gazumped by the frogs.
Im entirely pleased with the situation, because sabotage only began occuring when Freund became a particularly successful kaleun, averaging 5 or 6 ships a patrol for around 50k. (im very picky in convoys, break on in and target the juicy heart). As far as im concerned, this is brilliant, because Id imagine a skipper as successful as Freund would certainly be a target of the french resistance.
Cheers Jscones!
