I just ate a Big Mac for the first time in ages, and what happened to them? They are so tiny! So I said, maybe I don't rmemeber right since an 800 calorie Big Mac is still 800 calories, right? Not so! I looked it up, and now they are only 540 calories!!!!!!. Crud, I'd need to eat 4 of them for a 2000-2500 calorie diet!!! I mean, what happened? 800 calories used to be the perfect size for one of your three square meals a day!

Anyway, so I guess they are smaller - yet they still want three friggen dollars for that thing!!! I can go down to a mom and pop burger place and pay $3.50 for a decent sized burger than is probably 800 to 900 calories. Mc D's is a rip.

-S

PS. It could be worse - I just looked it up and the US has the biggest version. Take Australia for instance and they have a tiny 480 cal version. You guys down under are getting really screwed!!! :D

I rarely eat @ McDonalds just because I usually feel guilty after eating there but every once in a while I get a megacraving for the double cheeseburger.....which has been on the dollar menu for quite some time now. I have a taste for one of those. I swear they put something in their food to make them addictive.

I've got a long-time friend who used to haul "swingin' meat" for Mickey D's... After some of the stories he's told me, I'll never touch the a Quarter pounder again... The Filet O' Fish is alright... Besides, as SB1 has found out, and to coin a phrase from a Burger King ad, "where's the beef"? Wendy's is better IMO... ;)

I agree, I think compareing a Bigmac from the 80's and early 90's is smaller than what's served now.

I wouldn't touch that slop with a bargepole. In actual fact, I once did some advertising for McDonalds (they are really picky as a client incidentally), which resulted in them sending me load of vouchers - but even making it free didn't persuade me to eat there, I gave them all away. I'm not averse to fast food, but that stuff is garbage.

I'm frankly amazed that there's anyone out there that will eat anything from McDonalds, with the except of the sundaes. I don't trust meat I can break apart using my tongue against the roof of my mouth.

Oh, and $2.79 for six chicken nuggets? You gotta be ****ting me!

Oh a rooburger, I heard of those on tv years ago, wonder what it tastes like:hmm:I'll have you fellas know that roo meat is one of the leanest, nicest meats I've found anywhere. I use roo meat for steaks, because i love my steak to be tender and free of chewy fat. I eat kanga bangers (sausages) because at l find them tastier than normal snags. I use kangaroo meat in my strifrys because the meat is just so good!

Unfortunately people have a problem with the idea of eating our national emblem... Fact is, the meat is nice as buggery, its better for the environment to farm roos rather than cattle or sheep, and hey, they're in absolute plague proportions.

If you need to get yourself some amount of food you are totally wrong at any of those fast-fed-up-the-f&#§-cutomer shop's. Better get yourself some real food. If you havn't always the chance (like me) you're on the loosing side of life :(. *FEEL WELCOME*

Back when the sign on the arch said, "over 1 million served" (instead of over 5 billion served), the place wasnt bad.

Noways, they just suck. There isnt any other way to put it. Now to me, lunchtime chow, is chow, and im not all that picky, but for the life of me, i cannot understand why the drive through window at McD's is packed to the gills when right around the corner in the same strip mall complex, is a chinese fastfood joint. It has better food, less greasy, larger portions, short wait in line, for LESS MONEY.

When i go out to eat at lunchtime, the folks lining up at McD's continue to be a source of amusement. Meanwhile, im scampering back to the office with some beef broccoli, BBQ pork or what not.

A part of my morning is always taking time to prepare lunch. It calms me down if I'm tense, wakes me up if I'm still sleepy. The ritual aspect, etc :)

So watching anyone go anywhere for lunch is touch of amusement ;)

On the other hand, we do have a local chain here in Salt Lake called Crown Burger. A tad on the expensive side, but very much worth it. I go there when I can.

...The key to American food is: "Fat = Flavor"You're a very smart man! I love dabbling in the kitchen once in a while, and I tell you that fat does equal flavor. For example, I like really lean burger meat, but all burger meat has fat so it has flavor. Matter of fact, if you got rid of all fat from your diet, you would die, so you actually need it.

If you want to get technical, contrary to all the diets that have ever been billed to you, or should I say conned to you, fat is very important. It triggers a hormone in your brain telling you that you are full. Remove fat from your diet, you will never get the hormone, you will constantly be hungry for the entire time you don't get fat. So actually, contrary to popular belief, no fat = you will get fat yourself! But wait you tell me, I ONLY EAT SALAD!!! Hahahaha! So? How out that carrot in your salad! It had no fat in it, yet, you still turned what is pure carbohydrates (a complex name for sugar) into storage material in your very own body called FAT!!!! Don't think for a second that all those cows in the field over yonder got fat eating hamburger. Last I check, they got that huge from eating grass!!!! They are more efficient than you at getting fat off of grass, but you also don't need the efficiency to support 160 lbs - they are 1300 lbs + on average!!!!!

Yes, if you ate salad for the rest of your life, without fat, chances are, you will be a very fat person yourself! Have some flavor with that food. Not only will it taste better, but you will eat much less from due to the result of triggering of your hormone to stop eating!

I can't say I've ever heard of a successful diet that prescribed cutting all fats. The key is to eat the right fats, and to eat them in moderation. No diet is successful unless it is permanent.

Heard some lady on the radio a week or two back saying she lost like 20 pounds on some diet, but gained it all back the moment it was over. I mean, what a dumb ass! Duh! You went right back to the very thing that made you fat in the first place!!! Stupid people. For a diet to work - it must be permenent! Forever!!! Going back to old habits = same state you were once in! Why are people so stupid sometimes that they don't get this???? maybe I was born with common sense. It is scary to think that so many other people have absolutely NONE!!! I would hope they can think for themselves to the point of being able to help someone, maybe even myself may need help for that matter, out of a crysis if need be. Seems that too many people walk around with blinders on and I can't count on them in a state of emergency.

Maybe I shouldn't say they are stupid, but maybe just mentally challenged to look outside of their own little box. Most people I assume have at least half a brain, and are able to use it, just that they choose not to. That is the biggest problem in this world - people not using the gifts bestowed upon them.

Anyway, without getting too far off topic - I think you are meaning to say mono-saturated fat. Mono-saturated fat triggers the hormone in your brain that you are full, yet at the very same time, your body has absolutely no use for it. It is not able to store it as calories, so it simply passes it through your body and you gain no weight from it. Olive Oil is the perfect example. I will be cooking my hash browns tomorrow in Extra Virgin olive Oil! Preferably unfiltered!

Thanks for pointing this out and I agree. As with all things, moderation is the key and a modicum of fat is necessary; my earlier post may have misled folks into thinking I was being critical of Americans and fat. Actually I was being a bit flip; I'm 5' 11" and about 158 lbs. Not muscular (quite geeky, actually) but generally healthy as far as cholesterol and so forth, and I have no qualms about real butter, whole milk, fried chicken, etc. Have never thought to try olive oil on hash browns, but it sounds good.

"The key to longevity is whiskey and bacon fat." That and more money. And faster horses. And younger women.:D

Maybe, I don't know anything about that, but there are many other things organisms need fat for. Insulation, energy storage, and padding to protect organs are popular ones, but fats are also very important for cell structures. All cell membranes are mostly fat - lipid bilayers to be exact.

Ok, so I worked with this fella who's family owned a lot of farmland out in the vast Midwest. McDonald's raised corporate cows on the land leased from these folks. This guy swore up and down that these were some majorly doped up animals. The "company" people came around every so often and gave them a few "vitamins", after which the cows would do normal things like ram the electric fences and stare into the distance twitching. Its an interesting story.

And yeah, the Big Mac is not so big anymore.

Maybe they need to put the "vitamins" in the burgers! They have a verison of the big mac here in Australia called the son of mac. Considering how small a big mac is these days, the son of mac makes a cheese burger look big:huh:

Man, I just spent like 2 hours on that site. I was really interested in the "Pomegranate and Blueberry Juice Consumer Shopping Guide" I'm definetly going to get some of this "miracle juice" tomorrow. Great link, you have just contributed to a healthier me. I am going to pass this info to my Uncle also, he unfortunately is a Diabetic.
I just read this article in disgust though http://www.newstarget.com/022137.html
It's a damn shame stuff like this goes on. Maybe if they would put more money into natural healthcare options people like my Brother and Grandmother could have been saved.

You got more chance of dieing from a Big Mac than Gordon Brown giving you a big sloppy kiss on the lips. Not according to the movie Super Size It! Apparently the guy and chick that eats about 4 to 6 Big Macs a day has low cholesterol, low blood pressure, no sign of heart disease - he is perfectly healthy!

What you will learn from that movie - Don't Eat the Fries!

That's why BBQ's were created, so men could cook meat, drink beer and have a reason to tell made up fishing/hunting stories.
