After buying World in Conflict, I found the Red Dawn CE. The special features are awesome. They built all the Soviet equipment from scratch.
I love the opening scene in the movie! I did get a good laugh, when in the opening statements, when they say the Green Party had taken over.:rotfl:  By george, it's closer to the truth tham I thought.

Red Dawn is certainly the low point of american cinema.
Sorry but last time I watched it I couldnt make it past the opening scene when the teacher explains Ghengis Khan (!) and russian Paratroops take the school.
Strange airborne operation: Instead of quickly securing a parameter and taking defensive positions, number one priority of those elite troops is shooting up US pickups with AKs.
Sorry but Red Dawn is the worst propaganda movie ever made in Hollywood.
Funny is that the storyline is actually copied from the many soviet "partisan" movies made after WW2.
Replace the evil Russikies with the Germans and the brave Americans with the brave Russkies and you have your typical soviet Partisan movie.
Yup, Red Dawn is pretty much the height of Reagan-era paranoid Hollywood hokum, it makes Rambo look like a documentary:rotfl:

I'll admit it's not the apex of war films:roll: . It's a typical 1980's war film:doh: . I haven't seen the movie since 1994ish. The bonus disk is pretty cool. They build all of the Soviet equipment from scratch:up: . I'd like to put a 2007 spin on it though, If the Russkies invaded now, they'd be welcomed as liberators in Eugene OR, and San Fransisco from capitalism oppression.:rotfl: They'd still get their asses kicked if they landed in the Rocky Mountain region, everybody is armed there, and they wouldn't last to long.
Plus, speaking of Hollywood, the director of the film was not a popular guy among the "Hollywood elite", making such a controversial film. I also got a chuckle :dead: from the back story; The Green Party takes over in Germany, and the Cuban army infiltrates through our Mexican boarder:huh:
The other funny thing is reading the subtitles vs what they are actually saying (in Russian)

I remember thinking that movie was pretty terrible the first time I saw it...I was twelve, I think. It's only gotten worse as I've aged.
I particularly loathe the sequence where the Russian is insisting the arrow is authentic Native American.

Yep think you can file it with that classic film which told the truth about Vietnam......ie.....The Green Berets!

I saw that and thought it was great because it is just so stupid.
I mean a bunch of kids with Kurt Russel saving the US...

It wasn't until I saw part of it again on TV that I realized the girl who got shot was Lea Thompson!
Still wasn't enough to make me like it.
Oh, and 'twasn't Kurt Russel, 'twas Patrick Swayze.

Oh ok, they both look the same though, and act the same, as in can't....

Okay, ya got me there. Though I have liked several Kurt Russel performances. Can't say the same for Swayze.
Oh man, you can't be dissing the man who brought us Snake Plissken!

They should've got Kurt Russell instead. Snake Pilsken taking on Russian and Cuban invaders sounds like a lot more fun than Red Dawn actually was.
Hell, sounds more realistic too.:D
