Whilst west of portugal heading to his assigned patrol area NW of the Azores our Heroic Kaluen's IWO spotted an ore carrier heading north. Granted it was the dark of night, and said vessel was about 4km off running without lights. Our Courageous Commander ordered ahead full, and skillfully manuvered into position undetected till he had her at 2200m on a bearing of 060. The deck gun was manned, and after eight well placed rounds she was burning hard and listing heavily. It sounded like a wonderful Kodak moment, so all intersted crew were invited topside to snap a few pictures to impress the ladies with. It was then that it was discovered The the soon-to-be fish farm was flying an American flag. Shouts of victory were soon shusshed. We belive it best to begin writing our eulogy long before we return to Loreint.

Given the oppertunity he would have sunk you, America was discreetly aiding the British for many months before formally declaring war on Germany. Unless they are running lit with search lites trained on thier flag they are fair game. Bernard should get an attaboy for that one:lol:

My bernard got an o chit this weekend to take all his attaboys away. I had noticed that when returning to Kiel thru the canal i can run most of it at 32 on TC. But when leaving Kiel thru the canal 4 TC is the most i can get. We were on our 4th mission out when i told bernard to find the center of the channel on a long straight and then to return to course, during this time i headed off to plot the rest of our trip to DH69 for patrol. Well Bernard centered the canal well enough but forgot to return to course, i returned from course plotting to see the TC that was on 4 down to 1. I immediatly bellowed out "Emergency back" realizing what was about to occur. I was in time to save the ship and the crew But we were forced to make a 53 day layover at the end of the canal to repair the hull which had dropped to 47% integrity BDU wasen't happy with the 53 day vacation 6 hours after leaving port:damn: Just can't leave that Bernard alone for more than a minute.

Unfortunately there is a little thing about orders from the top of the food chain about not giving the U.S. any reason to be aggravated. The screaming madman with a poor excuse for a moustache don't take kindly to those who don't obey his every whim.
