What exactly does this do if anything in game? I cant for the life of me see where awarding any medal actually improves crew performance, is this just something you do for that imersion value or an I not seeing something. For an example: The wounded medal, I can have a patrol where no one gets hurt yet I get the option to award the medal and when I select it, I can award it to anyone. Better yet I might have a crewmember that does get injured but again not only will he light up when selecting the medal to award but so will everyone else.

Another question I see come up everytime I play is promotions, again does this really have an effect in the game or just another case of eye candy?

Thanks,

Scott

Awarding medals for crew members is only for immersion but promotions are the only way the crew can continue their evolution. They are promoted automatically from one rank to another except for the 4th, 7th and 10th rank (where you input is required). When you promote them, they can sometimes receive a new specialization (which you choose from a list).

hey maerean_m, I wonder if you could answer another question concerning awards: What are the exact requirements for the player to get certain medals and can one change the requirements? I'm just asking because I've been awarded the MOH (I think Medal of Valor in stock SH4) the 3rd time in a row just for sinking more then 4 ships. I think it would be more realistic to get the Navy Cross more often (that's the medal most skippers got for sinking 1 or 2 ships- at least that's what Clay Blairs "Silent Victory" is saying;))
