I just reinstalled my pc, I tried only reinstalling SH3 but I still couldn't play the game.

I copied the SH3 savegame folder, is it possible to copy it back to the new savegame folder and thus being able continou playing an old career?

From a save in port yes
As long as modded the same as before

There is a chance a save at sea maybe ok but not guaranteed

You can load old careers into the career folders in a fresh installation. With the hardware issues I have had in the past, it is something I have done fairly often. As long as your new carrer folder has the same name just copy/paste the files into that folder folder.

I hope so I was busy with a real nice career 2 100k patrols in a row and stuff.

I had to quit playing due to time and pc problems. I've been reinstalling my whole pc just now :)

Hi,

if you`re having your SH3 on a different partition then the OS, you only have to save your SH3 folder in "my documents".

Just did it, I upgraded my PC (Gigabyte P35-DS4, C2D 6750, 8800 GTS 640 MB and 2 GiG RAM and a new HD). I Just copied my SH3 and SH3 Commander folder onto the new HD after installing the new OS. Then copied my SH3 folder back to "My documents". Started SH3 once, it now does install the copy protectiong thingy again. When you start SH3 via SH3 commander again, the game asks for the activation key and viola, runs fine. This is SH3 with GWX.

I discovered this as I had to setup my old system again as it refused to boot, probably due to a virus. I used a older Ghost image where SH3 wasn`t installed yet and just for the fun of it tried to start the game. Works with Flightsimulator 2004 too, it just unpacks the scenery files again.

PS.: btw. holy cow, on my old system (2400+ with 1 Gig of RAm) from starting the game to being in 3D it took around 8-10 minutes, now it is done in under 2 minutes. Love it. And even in a harbour no stutters at all. Love that new machine and it isn`t even overclocked (yet).
