A couple of minutes ago, I'm out on my 31st patrol as Kapt. z. S. Heinz Ziepel (the guy below). Anyway, I decided to do a dare that my mind challenged me to: enter the Irish Sea in a VIIC. I knew it was dangerous, but I did it anyway.

Boy did it pay off...

Getting into the patrol (from Lorient), I camped out for about a day with nothing in sight. As I entered the Irish Sea (at about noon, October 31, 1943), I spotted the HMS ANSON sailing happily about and alone (odd, but I took the deal anyway).

Ahead Flank, 16 meter dive, Ahead Slow, open tubes 1-4, AND GET READY!!

For some reason, she turned, and I got a full 4-shot salvo into her side!

BANG! All 4 fish, steamed, slam into her side. Explosions rock the ship and send a cataclysm of water into the air! Men are thrown from the deck into the freezing sea, sinking to their deaths. Within 3 minutes, the ANSON was gone; no survivors.

Continuing along, with much cheer aboard, I spotted a task force (neutral, however) of Irish ships, save for one British old liner. The force wasn't very big (4 ships total), but I attacked.

All 4 ships were destroyed within an hour from my torpedoes and deck gun shots. I took much pleasure in watching them sink into the deep.

Happy with my kills, over 4 days, I went home (I camped out for a little longer, just for reference as to the "4 days"). Along the way, AMBUSH!

Enemy planes stormed my ship. At the time, I wasn't sure of their specific type. Didn't really care, either. I ordered my crew to man the AA guns and fire away. There were only 2 that we got, but they burned all the way down.

Returned to base with no problems.

-1 Battleship sunk
-1 Liner sunk
-3 Merchants sunk
-2 Planes downed

TOTAL TONNAGE: 107,236

REALISM LEVEL: 72% (event camera and external views were left off, as a note)

Happy Halloween to me.:D

I wish I could find juicy targets like that...the best I can find is large freighters.

Any tips on hunting grounds?

Best hunting grounds are the most dangerous places (always a damn catch to it).

Anyway, search the English Channel if you're not up for danger. Good targets there, and sinking them would be a big help to the war effort (ha).

Pull a few harbor raids off and on, look sharp, be vigilant, keep your wits about you.:rotfl: Just kidding.

The BEST place, at the moment I'm playing in, is in Sector BE. Head as far East as you can. French coastline will soon be filled with opportune targets (D-Day?). Otherwise, stick to the Channel and around the southwest side of the UK. Basically around the British Isles and North Sea.

You Sir are a bounder and a cad! How dare you attack the Irish, we are a neutral country.

Scandalous. I will be submitting a full report to the German Ambassador tomorrow. And by all means notify your airmen that they have little chance of a warm reception in Irish territory forthwith.:nope:

Wonderful!
Best wishes from Kriegsmarine to Mr. Churchill... If he needs one battleship more, he now knows where to find one

Today I'm planning to attack Scapa Flow. I've pulled like 3 other raids on it, but those took place in '41. Time to revisit two years later...:D

Good luck with that...I wish you many a unescorted merchant.

just hope they don't have the crack deck gun teams I have been seeing as of late.

I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot more luck this time around.

My favorite has been Loch Ewe...I have only once not been able to get in and usually I can find a nice fat juicy Carrier or BB. If I get lucky, I get a task force coming in as I am going out. And almost always, there is a cruiser there on the right before I get to the dock area...

It is a joy...:hmm:
