Yup. But you have to realize they are not an ADCAP... not even close.

You still have to have an accurate fire control solution to put the torp pretty close to your intended target and the target has to be making a fair bit of noise.

As well, they are not very fast and don't have much of a punch, but as a last resort they have saved my bacon more than once.

well ivs had them run down the side of a destroyer maybe 15ft and turn behind them, but the DD's usualy in a DC run by the time it gets around and never gets any closer that 3 ship lenths:damn:

Its a weapon of choice for those pesky sub chasers ;)

I ... wel almost always carry one at least one in the stern tubes.

I think in RL it wasn't a very successful torp. It wasn't very fast and its small warhead mean't it was only good for knocking a screw off a snooping DD or DE. If it behaved too well, like a modern acoustic homer I think it would be a little unrealistic.
