Due to open in 2009, this incredible $730-million complex will be submerged 20metres below the Persian Gulf and contain no less than 220 suites. Such a dazzling feat of engineering might previously have been restricted to 1980s' Roger Moore films but is now set to become a reality.
The jellyfish-shaped hotel will be split into three areas - the land station, the underwater acrylic-glass railway tunnel and the main complex itself. The resort is the brainchild of German architect Joachim Hauser, who it is believed was inspired by Jules Verne's novel 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
At about $7000 per night, Hydropolis may be best left to Bond villains.
