States suing the federal gov. Unbelievable. There is no cooperation anymore. Simply take it to court. Don't ask questions, don't pass go and collect $200.
If I were the feds, I cut federal funding to these states so dramatically, they would never try this again. Hopefully they take some drastic action in that regard.

PS. By the way, the EPA now has the authority to end your life - you can breath in, but you can't breath out. Not kidding - look:
...And in April, the United States Supreme Court (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/s/supreme_court/index.html?inline=nyt-org) ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate heat-trapping gases like carbon dioxide.

Frankly, I support their initiative. The Bush Administration has been more than lax in seeking a co-operative role in curbing "green house emissions"... Why? Simply because of the Bush Admins "business at all costs" philosophy. These guys would sell their mothers ashes if there's a profit in it...
C'mon, the Fed can't even cope the issue of a few million illegal aliens... let alone 'green house emissions'. I say, let the states legislate and regulate themselves if the Fed is going to drag it's heels...
Better than sitting back and doing NOTHING... :shifty:

Better than sitting back and doing NOTHING... :shifty:No it's not. You will just create friction between the states and feds. Nothing more. Everyone knows that suing can't get them anywhere. Its simply a political stunt. Besides, I'm sure this bill has already come up, and the reason Bush is not pushing the agenda is A. He has other things to worry about right now, and B. The original bill as put forth probably has som BS pork barreled spending in it buried by senator
THere is only one logical way forward to get our government moving again - give the pres line item veto so he can veto out BS out of great bills that were buried in there by some idiot senator for his self interests.
ANother thing that needs to happen - campaign finance limits.
Those two things would solve so many problems in this country that it is unfathomable as to why it hasn't happened yet.

No it's not. You will just create friction between the states and feds. Nothing more. Everyone knows that suing can't get them anywhere. Its simply a political stunt. Perhaps a little friction is good. There was this Tea Party a few years back...But then again, maybe a little more in the papers about the Fed and GHE and a little less about the Iraqi War might raise public conscience that there is more going on in the world than the Middle East and the "War on Terror".
Besides, I'm sure this bill has already come up, and the reason Bush is not pushing the agenda is A. He has other things to worry about right now, and B. The original bill as put forth probably has som BS pork barreled spending in it buried by senator
Bush is a lame duck and I don't see where any of point A would be relevant much longer as he will soon be passing the buck to his replacement. Personally, I hope he's busy planning a permanent vacation somewhere else outside the US or getting Texas annexed by Mexico...
I think your speculating on Point B. I mean I wouldn't be surprised but who knows...
THere is only one logical way forward to get our government moving again - give the pres line item veto so he can veto out BS out of great bills that were buried in there by some idiot senator for his self interests. Sorry I wouldn't give Bush the power to order a Hamburger and Fries if my life depended on it... I think it would just be a trade between a Senators self interests and Bush's...
ANother thing that needs to happen - campaign finance limits. Now this I agree with you on 100%...

The reason for Line Item Veto - Congress can't get a single thing done over someones pet project being buried in every bill they try and push through. Line item veto is the only way to fix that.
And the rest - I guess we agree to disagree! :smug:

Loyalty is not to be taken for granted. It needs to be earned and deserved. An idiotic and most stupid government like the Bush gang, that has failed on all challenges it ever faced during it's legislation, makes disobedience almost a citizen's legal duty, and an act of protecting the state against hostile takeover.
As i repeatedly said in the past, most citizens and many cities and communities are many years ahead of the WH when it comes to environmental awareness, and energy questions, and modernizations (even our oh so liberal lefty sick european media is registrating and observing that) - while the central government currently still is thinking in concepts of decades ago. One should be thankful for that initiative on display. No reason in trying to behave like dinosaurs - if that goes for too long, it only destroys America a bit more with each day passing. as if the damage Bush has done to the US isn't already great enough.
I would be careful when calling for the strong Fuehrer vetoing everything that he does not like, Subman. Others have had more experiences with that than you Americans, and it didn't serve them too well.
I agree on the campaing finance limits, though. the ammount of money beign spend for that is in the realm of absurdity. It makes mockery of the election process in every meant-to-be-democratic system. It also allows far too much influencing by lobbies not only during legislation, but even already in the process of selecting candidates and presidents. It does not helpt democracy, but aims at preventing it. Because democracy cannot function if it is run without reason of the participants and citizens, but reason getting replaced with dollar-heavy propaganda - which campaigning actually is all about.
Hell, I would even forbid campaigning all together, and would ban lifetime professional politicians as well. 8-12 years in politics, then everybody has to completely abandon the playfield, forever, and is not allowed into political service again, no matter the function and office. Else politicians make policies on behalf of their own political careers. Which may be exclusive to the demand that they should serve the interests of the people and the community.

Line item veto is the only way to fix that.
"A constitutional amendment to give the President line item veto power has been considered periodically since the Court ruled the 1996 act unconstitutional."
Clinton used it under special consideration of the Congress in '96. Later, the Supreme Court found it to be unconstitutional and struck it down...
We need another solution...
An idiotic and most stupid government like the Bush gang, that has failed on all challenges it ever faced during it's legislation, makes disobedience almost a citizen's legal duty, and an act of protecting the state against hostile takeover.
Well said...

I support it. It's no secret what Bush thinks about pollution. He's hands off.
