My goodness. I puchased a HDTV and have been watching some TV. I'm thinking the people who are on TV, who I didn't give a second thought to, have morphed into something else.
Ugly, ugly ugly!! HDTV will soon (I hope) bring us some more attractive folks.
Has anyone else with HDTV noticed this?

HD programs have already had to deal with the higher quality picture that will show every bump, crease and quick makeup job. they have had to change lighing, makeup and other technical tricks to cope with the change.
But if your already butt ugly, no amount of vasline on the lense of the camera will help.

Discovery, NASCAR, and Football are about the only things I watch on HD. I heard that Dirty Jobs was on HD... I don't think I would want to see that show in high def!

I not so excited about the picture. I would like an improvement on the audio side of things though. We need better audio!!!!

My TV is 12 years old, 4:3, 55 cm, 30W Stereo, headphone possible, good bass and nice picture. what else could i want? Most CD TV I see in warehouses look terribly bad in picture quality. Having asked about what kind of signal they were receiving, salesmen tuned them to what they said is the new standard - and still it was looking like pancake before baking. My next TV will be a conventional one again. that is the good news. the bad news is that these are already difficult to find if you want 16:9, but no mega-sized XXL-60 kg monster.
What the life expectancy of LCD TV will be, still remains to be seen, many already say they do not live as long as the old TVs. And I have no intention to buy a new TV for 1.500 bucks every four years.
So, when i do not get a medium sized 16:9 anymore, I probably would prefer to get a normal 4:3 with 55cm and stereo sound again. And then I am happy with all this old, ancient, archaic mega-out technology again. Needing to deal with the flood of new tech standards and connectors and signal formats is not fun, but consumer terror. Liufe can be so easy and laid-back without such needless complications.
And so very cheap! ;)

I remember reading an article a while back that said that HD was causing problems for the adult film industry. All of a sudden now each little blemish, pimple or birthmark is very very visible.

Have you seen a good DLP high def tv that has quality HDMI hook ups that is switched to a quality HD station in 1080i like Discovery?
If you have not, well then there's your problem!
If so, and you still are not impressed, then you are just too much of an audiofreak.
Actually, I don't have the sound system to test it, but is the audio quality through HDMI cables not better that the other hook ups?

PS. I don't care for interlaced streams either, so 1080i is out. I do like 720p and 1080p however. I am not even sure why we have 1080i these days (Or if you compare it's number of 1080 to a progressive stream like 720p, you should really be calling 1080i 540i instead since it takes 2 lines of alternating resolution to make one real line of picture which really equals half the resolution it is claiming. 1080i is making it sound better than it really is). This is supposed to be the world of digital television in full progressive frame. 1080i bucks the trend and bury's us in yesterdays protocols. Arrghhh! Before you get me into it, I am stepping down from my soapbox now. :D
