Just read on the BBC's news site that U-boat that is in Liverpool dock, will now be moved to a new site, but will be cut into 3 sections and have glass panels so you can see inside the U-boat.
It seems such a shame this will happen, but lets hope that a good job will be done.

This news is a day or so old.....but better three sections than none

Wait... how is that better?
I would have sliced it perfectly in the center from the bow tubes to stern. This way, you only have two sections, BUT you get a great view from inside the entire U-boat as you move along. Put both halves in a tank, and walk through a corridor that contains them. Somewhat like being inside a U-boat... somewhat...

I think the operative word Jimbuna referred to was better than "none". IIRC, this news is something of a reprieve and earlier plans were to scrap it altogether, so I think three pieces are better than none at all. Just my opinion.

True, true.
Maybe they should have let this old beast be reclaimed by the deep. Haul it out to sea, set it down in the waves, and watch her go down with memorial wreaths and plaques pinned to her. If she must go, give her an honorable discharge. Maybe the creatures of the deep would have greater use for her than these people seem to...:nope:
BUT, at least that's not the way things have to end for it.

Even in three pieces people will at least get to see her and hopefully, in the process, spare a thought as to the futility of war :yep:
