Seth is man of the hour! Go after those zombie polls.
And Warhawk, too!!

And, yes, Kaleuns. Not so long ago we had reports of your advrentures, good post-patrol parties, exchange of experiences. Not bloody ghouls digging up old, stale, mindless zombie polls.

Bravo, Seth.

Maybe threads should have a pre-set lifespan, say 6 months, then automatically be shut. By that time they've generally been hi-jacked beyond redemption and serve no real purpose, or have branched into several repeat threads.

I know, I know, easier said than done.

It does get annoying to have to sift through all these old polls to look at newly posted threads.

I mean, there's always the new guy that might be sifting through all the threads, reading stuff, and they happen on an old poll and vote and post on it, not realizing that it will bump it up like that.

But the ones doing it on purpose, I mean come on. Wouldn't the time you spent doing that be better spent sinking merchant ships and then posting a NEW thread about how you did?

It should start with an enforced closure of polls, after _PLEASE_INSERT_A_NUMBER_ hours!

I didn't understand if this is possible or not with the current software?
If yes, then what should be the number?
Here some idea's : 96 hours? 120 hours? 240hours?

Polls..Shmolls...who cares... :nope:

You have to remember not all of us have been on this site for a year or more.

Maybe its just new folks finding a poll and doing there civic duty and voting.

When I first joined Im sure I resurrected a few. Granted not all polls are uber or even worthy but..... who doesnt wanna click the lil button and cast there ballot!

Surely men of power and responsibility, who peer daily out into the bleakness, hour after hour in freezing rain and wind from their conning towers, can certainly let a minor annoyance such as a poll (feh) not bother them. :arrgh!:

Now lets get back to AM where-ever an rejoin the fray. er...frey... ugh

Hopefully now all these zombie polls are banished for good (Fingers crossed), we can get back to the good ole days of patrol reports, blaming Bernard for everything that goes wrong (that will never bore me, as I can read how new players get on with Bernard), and praising Balz for another sucessfull patrol.

I agree with Steve and I'm glad that Seth and the other moderators are getting together to do something.

After 24 hours, no one should be allowed to add to the poll and any person who wishes to start a poll has to clear it through the Moderators stating it's purpose and why it is needed. IMO

I know I'll probably be blasted for this opinion from someone but I am behind Seth and the others.

I think 24 hours is to short but 48 would be ok.

I say this cause with extreme bad luck one could miss the vote, ofcourse it aint a matter of life and death but still If I see a sensible poll I'd like to vote.

Sorry, Jimbuna. Couldn't resist it. This is how polls are getting under our skin. Soon we'll all become addicted.

Of course, all moderators should get a pat on the back --I just saw Seth's X, later I noticed Warhawk was Exing, too. And there are others who acted during the big zombie parade. :D :D :D :D

I'm guilty of that one.

I see a thread that I haven't seen before and launch right in. Only recently did I notice the time / date stamps on each post. - Ooooops.

I'd have thought the easiest solution would be for the poster of the poll to specify how long it should run for and thereby give an absolute indication to a moderator as to when they should close it :hmm:
