I just gots ta' know....

Is it absolutely necessary to almost collide with a returning U-boat everytime I Depart Lorient :damn:

Putting out of port is fun but sometimes I just want to stomp on the time compression and get going. It seems like everytime Im leaving the harbor theres a returning Uboat. Ok no problem I'll wave as he passes and say have fun at the club. But usually he heads right towards me, forcing me too stop compression and take evasive action.

Maybe the other crew has seen "Apocalypse Now" and wants to play chicken. I dont know. Maybe Bernard is at the helm. Does anyone know this U-Boats # so I can radio in his coordinates to the RAF? I'm tellin you, one more near miss Im gonna open fire with my deck gun. :arrgh!:

I've never had a collision in TC. I've watched escorts throw it into back emergency and ground themselves trying to avoid me, but they've always succeeded. Their Kaleuns are pretty good at taking evasive action.

Line up behind the Vorposten boat, use the Uzo to get a precise heading and ratchet up the TC! :D

What I really hate is when the other kaleun doesn't have insurance. Damn cheapskate sub skippers.

Like the first poster I've never had a collision either. The friendly AI boats usually are pretty deferential to what the human player is doing.

Bear in mind there was usually only a narrow navigable channel between mines and nets for traffic to use....and as already pointed out, the AI boat nearly always does a good job of avoiding you :arrgh!:

That's because all the traffic in every harbor is scripted in. They always travel the same path. Almost always they panic and dodge you, even when there's no need.

I know the idiot that your talking about! He's almost collided with me too! Normally he doesn't try to turn or back away until it's almost too late! You don't wanna know howmany times I wanted to open up on him with the deck gun!

(submarine road rage???)

Hehe, well I have had escorts and other ships back off too, but not that returning Uboat. Maybe its that one spot at the harbor entrance where the nets etc are and its a tight squeeze.

Maybe he thinks HE's the player and you're the AI.

I know that kamikaze guy. After 3 patrols I had his course track figured out and set my outbound course a few meters of to one side.

Anyway I started to perform post-dock and pre-patrol test (as I play SH3Commander with malfunctions and sabotage on) just to make sure my boat is combat-ready. This takes enough time to have that blind guy pass the entrance and everything is empty for me :D

Never had a collision in TC, even when the KM Admiral Scheer was heading towards me!

I just plot a course out to sea and go do something else for 30 minutes or so, or I concentrate on something else and tap the "+" key 7 times every time I see it at "1".
I never pay attention to what is happening in the harbor. I just want to get the hell out & away from all those nuisance boats.
My bad I know, but I do the same after a patrol and I have never hit anything..."yet"....

Maybe he thinks HE's the player and you're the AI.
