At last it is in the skies.

Yup, been looking forward to that, both my missus and I put a tenner towards this day a few years back (before they got the lottery funding). I used to love that thing at airshows, it was so noisy you could hear car alarms and babies crying all over the airfield after its routine. Even went in one once, tiny cockpit which you get to via a hatch in the floor in between the seats, I remember smacking my head on something really hard when I did that!
:D Chock
The Vulcan is truly a wonderful plane.

The secret star of "James Bond: Thunderball".
I remember from the backyard of my memory that there also was a decent flightsim module for the Vulcan available.
Edit: correction, apparently three attempts have been made at the Vulcan since FS8.
This seems to have been the most advanced, video available at the bottom of the site : http://www.justflight.com/product.asp?pid=61

What an excellent achievment. Good job. It's nice to see a piece of history not being sent to the junk heap.

I love seeing old aircraft take to the air again. Very nice!
I only saw one fly once, at Fairford about 15 years ago. I remember feeling a weird sensation in my chest, wondering what it was, then hearing the plane. Now THAT's noise - and it was only taxiiing.

"and it was only taxiing", pretty much sums up the Vulcan really! I've not been fortunate enough to see one fly, but will hopefully get the chance next year! Absolutely fantastic to see such an iconic aircraft do what she does best again...fly!:up::D

I remember seeing it fly. Must have been one of the lucky few to remember that when it opened its bomb bay and pulled in to a hard turn standing on its wingtip. apart from the B-1B it must be the only bomber you could do that with. At high altitude it could out turn most fighters of the day.

I visited the R.A.F museum in Hendon where they have one on display,i was amazed how big she is,and truly beautifull and gracious, what an achievement by the egineers and all those volunteers who worked so hard, nobody could ever dream they really would do it!!
Would love to see her fly again, maybe at the RIAT next year??
I think they are one of the most beautiful planes
