View Full Version : I hate high command!!
Can't beleive it, finished my 7th patrol tonight (every one of them has been taking supplies to the phillipines I might add). I got the message saying something along the lines of how amazed everyone was that I got back i one piece (I only got hit by one or ten shells), and I could choose to retire on a high note or get a new boat. I'm thinking ooo, gato class, two more torp tubes. It just wasn't to be. I got the Porpoise, two less tubes and six less torps. And worst of all no surface radar. :damn:
Was so very attached to the Snapper, how I loved her radar and all those lovely torpedoes.
And worst of all I'm on another trip the the sodding phillipines. :damn:
Well, just got back from the phillipines again. It seems the angels were looking down on me, as I have just been briefed on my next mission; a routine patrol of the marshall islands, and I've received a Gato class boat as well. All is well in the SH4 world again. Except the lack of radar.
On that note, does anyone know why the boats can't have suface radar installed. It seems to me that if the Gatos were the successors to the Salmon class then they should have radar capability just as the Salmons do. Just my braincell activity for this evening.

Do you have enough prestege to buy the radar? That may be the problem.

I'm using a Salmon class boat in late '42 on my 6th patrol and have the improved SJ radar on it, I would assume you would be able to install a SJ radar on a Gato Class boat
Ok, strange.
At first I thought it was prestige, but I have over 5000 now. When I clicked on either the SJ or SJ1 radar to drag it to the sub, it would come up with something like, This upgrade cannot be installed, or something like that.
Also, just loaded my career to try again, as i'm sitting in port just now. Strangely, neither radars are on the upgrade list now.
Well, just got back from a patrol to the marshall islands, and I have now installed SJ1 radar on my boat.
The date is now 11 oct 1943, perhaps radar was unavilable to the Gato until that month??
