Just for curiosaty, has a nice pic of the telegraph. I also want to ask 2 things, why in the game the engine telegraph is in oposite direction, and what the "Beide Maschinen 10 mehr" order stands for?

No idea why it was reversed by Ubi developers/designers.

According to translate.google.com, it means "Both machines/engines 10 more". 10 more what? I assume revs as I can't think what else you would want 10 more of on both engines.

More probably '%'....I can't see 10 more revs doing anything noticeable :hmm:

"10 More" means 10 revolutions more.(Electric propulsion)

Think of silent running at 50 revs.(2Knt) 60 revs would be 20% faster.

That's what I was thinking. Even the old deisels didn't do more than a few thousand RPM either so at low speeds plus 10 would have been a significant difference.

Uboot commander often used the method to order propeller turns per minute rather than a "to-be-achieved" speed (measured in knots). This was a habbit because the enigines can now be run in the most optimized way.
When a submarine was patroling his area the speed was less relevant than conserving fuel or minimizing engine breakdowns.

The direct translation from rpm to forward movement is only valid in quiet waters. In the open sea wind, waves and water currents can slow or speed up the boat or can shift the direction of movement.

To come back to your question: 10 more/less was used from "hearing" the engine noise and telling wether the engine is running good or bad
