I hope this gets fixed with GWX 1.04

Today I got a record 37 radio messages in one hour game time. I finally removed the funker and tossed him into the torpedo room.

Do we still get convoy and ship updates with the funker away from the spam receivers?

If someone says Neue Funkschpeuch Herr Kaleun, I'm gonna throttle him. :shifty:

I echo that "ARRggggggghhh!!"

The spam is going way over immersion levels, and since it drops your TC to 1, it pretty much demands you run at real time.

And, no, you cannot set TC settings in SH3 Commander to address this... if you change your message TC settings, it applies only to important stuff, not GWX immersion stuff.

At the very least, I hope there is a "no radio" mod, a la the lite harbour mod.

That depends on when the messages are added. (When in-game time terms) No offense is meant, you guys are certainly entitled to your opinions... However, they do not affect our aims.

If someone wants to make a no radio messages mod after we release that is fine... but it won't be included.

That's all folks.

what happens when you go in the file and remove some (or all) messages ? :hmm: CTD ?

Until now, I never thought I would see anybody complaining about the excessive number of radio messages... :o

Personally, the more radio messages I have, the best I feel.

:arrgh!: join WaW... someone made a mod containing all WaW radio messages in SH3 (part of the RP of WaW) wich gets larger with the hour

I like the radio messages of GWX very much and appreciated every single one of it.
But I can understand the discomfort to have at some times an interruption every few seconds (as soon as my TC is 128 again... :D)
But it will cost me a total of 2 minutes to save the messagefile for later use, to open it in an editor and........ *void* ;)

EXACTLY!

I think this is one instance where the best solution is for players to know how to thin out the message file themselves. That way, *they* can choose how many messages they want. Having an arbitrary Lite version IMHO is just not a viable solution. Ie, what's *your* definition of Lite?

Messages are stored in \SilentHunterIII\data\Campaigns\Campaign\messages_ **.txt.

It's easy to reduce back to stock message levels (just replace the file with the stock file), reduce to no messages at all (empty or delete the file altogether) or edit the file yourself to the level that suits you. No modding skills necessary and I reckon it would take about the same amount of time as it would to find, d/l and install a "prepackaged" mod. ;)

You wish!

In an effort to reduce the amount of messages recieved from Bdu, I advise all to tie down your radio officer and stick him in the rear torpedo tube. And if he says "Neue Funkschpeuch Herr Kaleun" at any time, fire him out of the rear tube at the nearest ship!

Out of the heart of darkness, comes the sadistic Capt Lehmann once again to strike fear into every Kaleun's soul.

Sorry, had to add this:

At LEAST there is one thing to be grateful for.........

The fact that when we get radio messages, the sound file ISN'T the one from AOL:

"You've got mail!"

imagine hearing that over and over and over and over and over and over....well, you get the idea. Things don't seem so bad when you think about that! :rotfl:

Too many radio messages? I'm not sure what the problem is, I realise the rad op is earning his Reichsmarks at the start of the war but I never seem to have to much interruption during the game, usually a few within a couple of hours game time at the most. I realise it's a pain in the rear end when you want to stay at higher TC speeds it keeps dropping you back to normal time, but this is a minor problem I can live with.

Keep up the good work GWX crew:up:

The only downside to the radio messages is that you get them all over again after a reload :) Apart from that radio messages are great for immersion.

I recommend those with at least a basic understanding of German to switch to the German messages tough - much more immersve and you get a lot of unique messages.

As for the OP - why dont you just delete the radio message file?
