Since this is not a weapons technology per se, I would guess that it will make its way to the civilian market, once perfected.

Impressive, if the technology works as advertised. Easy to imagine a multitude of uses where this system, or variants for use in different machinery than helicoters, could be of great benefit in the prevention of worst case scenarios.
