Trying to set up for a shot at an escort carrier with a full deck of aircraft when my crew refused maneuvering orders. A quick look at the crew status showed that most of them were asleep. I thought crew management and shift changes were automatic. Is this a glitch?

I found the above link regarding sleeping crew. I don't buy it that this is a normal occurrance purposely built into the sim. If it is, then realism just went out the window. At no time should a captain have to babysit the crew and give them milk and cookies and maybe a bed time story to make sure they sleep. It's a pretty safe bet that no submarine captain had to abort an attack on a carrier because his crew couldn't wake up. This is way beyond normal fatigue. If it didn't happen in real life than why the heck would anyone bother simulating it? I think it's probably a glitch.

Note: This was a normal cruise off Honshu. No bad weather and only one battle stations which secured almost immediately. Hardly stressful. I did use TC to get into position.

maybe you had battlestations mode still on but would be nice if you can get the deck watch crew to do the shift, there're not asleep yet.

Had that problem when I forgot to turn off general quarters. Of course, it was about the same time as you. when I was triing to setup a shot.

Yep, sometimes you have to check upon restarting you career that they are not at battle stations. Anyway, hit the battle station button again and they will wake up.

Thanks for the replies. Thought I turned battle stations off but looks like I probably didn't. Another lesson learned. :know:
