Hey all,

After a vain attempt at tweaking some files in my cfg, by unabling the UAC or by even just installing in a different directory (C:/User/SilentHunter4 instead of Prgrm Files) I have just re-installed SH4 into its normal place in the program files, however, whilst trying to install v1.3 to sh4, my computer says that it needs a previous version to install over, and it has detected none! The first time I installed it, it went in with no problems.. At the moment I'm writing and trying to contain the fury..

Can anyone tell me WHY it won't install!

I can't recall right now but did the patch have a location box anywhere in it? (C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/... etc.) when you were installing it?

If so, you just need to hit the browse button and select the new location you installed to. Otherwise it may be possible to edit the registry entry for SH4 to change the install location reference.

Aye sir,

It went into my downloads foler, when I open it to install, it goes through the InstallWizard, as soon as it goes through the preperations, it stops and says no version is available to patch over, at the moment I'm repairing the sh4, (seems it didnt install correctly?..) (honestly.. im about to crack the bloody disk in two..)

Do you have a password on your windows login?

I don't recommend installing stuff directly to a user's personal folder. That could well be your problem.

Only if you're comfortable in regedit (there's no going back)-
Before reinstalling, uninstall, run regedit and do an edit->find and type in Silent Hunter. Hit F3 and delete each resulting folder labelled wolves of the pacific (or SH4). Watch out for SH3 files as they'll come up too. After you're done, reinstall.

Uninstalling still leaves numerous SH4 files in the registry and that could be the problem.

Aye,

I do have a password protected user account, I think I'll try the steps you mentioned above..

P.S: I do feel quite childish for being upset over a game...
