It is obvious that some people are not satisfied simply with being idiots, but also do need to cause headaches and displeasing to the rest of the world, besides wasting their time and the time of others. Such kind of people are keen to do actions such as bumping long ago dead polls in order to screw the right and pleasure of others to enjoy these forums.

I have nothing against idiots, as long as they don't go around disturbing others, but this recent poll-bumping episode has made me waste some of my precious time in closing all polls that were in the current first page of the forum, so that other users don't get confused and vote in them, and has generated lots of angryness in the 99% of the normal, wellcomed users.

I have submitted a petition to Neal to investigate via IP vote casting log the identity of the idiot, and recommended he gets accordingly pubished due to its inability to play well with others.

In the meantime, I had to close many polls and also ask Neal to disable that feature in this forum, so I apologize for those inconvenieces, which of course willbe only temporary (Unlike the stupididty of our -yet- unknown poll-bumping idiot, which seems a permanent condition).

If the idiot reads this, he can contact me or Neal per PM and apologize. It could eventually be considered in his benefit if a confession s made before his IP is traced.:stare:

Thanks everyone for your patience.

Lets make a poll and see who agrees!!Im just kidding.

I agree but some polls are useful . for example about convoy attacks or torpedo loadout and pistol types. They help your judgement.

Agree !
I have seen very few polls that really made sense.
Suggest to disable this feature.

Suggest to disable this feature.

No, don't disable the feature (probably can't for just one section of SS). All or nothing.

However, you can set a 'lifetime' for the poll. Maybe 1 week and after that no further votes can be made (I think the Poll Creator can do this too).

I would actually suggest that this feature should be disabled for members that haven't already contributed a reasonable number of posts - say 2000 or more :yep:

I think I've seen this on few boards and would have nothing against it. :yep:

i agree with the punishment of the person. I feel bad because i havent been at this board for a week and i came last night not knowing the numbers of polls. I found myself posting in atleast three. By the time i got to regular posts i realized what i had done bumbing the polls back up. I should have read anti poll topics before.

Well done, Hitman! And BIG thanks!:D

There's nothing wrong with polls. Just the abuse of one or two lame brain nitwits.

I doubt I will be in a mood for polling anything for a while

The only problem I see with that is that it wouldn't stop people from resurrecting old polls. Other than that it sounds okay.

Maybe there could be a way to force polls to automatically close after a set amount of time; say, a week or two.
