Stuka-Time!

Watch out for those Hurricanes and especially Spitfires.

Fighters
Fly it safe, aim steady and make every shot count. No shooting until you can see the rivets of the tailwing!

Dont wander, stick with the objective grids! Dont chase them to their bases.

Bombers
Flank them, dont go directly to the target. It takes time, but it's more important to get the bombs to their targets than score air kills in a crazy trip through the 'hotzones' infront of the targets.

Short bursts, you need the ammo throughout the sortie.

EDIT: Oh and the server works even if it's empty. So, a lone RED player can win the entire battle if none does anything to him. The war is won by getting more points than the other team.

EDIT2: No mercy. If you go to the server and see there's 10 blue against 1 red, then that's the red side's problem. Jump in to your fighter or bomber and do your duty.

Ok. First group game is now over and here's my thoughs.

Nicely organized for a first game. Frenssen was out of escort on the 2nd map, but we had 3 Stukas and only 1 escort. But all in all, a good game. We nailed them targets quite nice. ;) Hunter had some bad luck, as my bomb dropped before his and blew up all the 'soft' targets, so his SC1000 couldnt blow the tanks.

Morts, less stunts, pay attention, one enemy fighter can take us all out if we get surprised. Good job on that fighter you downed. :up:

As we tested (but were interrupted by the enemy), the escort should break off the formation when near target IF there is no imminent threat to the bombers and go ahead to the target area and report the target's position back to bombers. I dont want to spend time looking for the targets, in and out as quickly as possible.

I'll make few reference pics for our formations later, so everyone knows their place in the air.

Like zig-zagging around me & Hunter? Doing low passes when we are taking off? Using the smoke that gives away one's position? :hmm:

No matter how good pilot one is, those kinda tricks are always risky. And if you die, our team loses 1 pilot & 1 plane. If you crash to someone while doing a stunt, that's 2 pilots & 2 planes from our side. It's not about scores, it's about winning the war. :up:

Use the stuka to strafe the enemy all you want. But I dont want to get killed because our escort either was shot down by AA or used all his ammo on tanks or AA guns.

I only got a car myself, but I don`t care much about my stats as long as we fly together and the team does well. (I sound like a brain dead soccer player saying this, but I really mean it:lol:) If all of us are online at the same time we will win maps on our own with the right tactics.

There is always something to bomb :cool:

it depends on the TOD (month/year)
I dont know if there is a progess or historical events going on, at least I cant read it anywhere on the website.
the only thing I know you always have something to bomb/defend.
my favorite are shipping with the current list of planes you can use.
I just love to take my He111 to a convoy and drop 2 Torps at a merchant.
but before you take off (selected the base/Plane)
type <targets in the chat bar
you will get a reply from the server that says for example

C4 group : 18

means in Grid C4 there are still 18 targets
if it show 0 (all the target in that grid have been destroyed)

1st merchy (got kicked for high ping) someone thought it was funny to suck away all my bandwitch, got that little issue solved :arrgh!: kicked during my trip back to base
2nd merchy (landed)

1st 3 cars (got shot by enemy fighter (bailed))
2nd 13 cars (got shot by a AA which nailed my wing(killed))

I think the server is abit slow again, like in the end of last ToD. On the first few days, it updated the points as soon as you landed, crashed etc. Because, you should have more points that for sinking 2 merchies.

And saw that the medals has issues too, I had 9 kills when I got the Deutch Cross in Gold, which is given for 10 downed enemy planes. Morts got his medal when he had 3 downed planes. :p

XabbaRus, check your stats and you can find out if you was teamkilled. I tried flying three sorties alone after I flew together with XabbaRus and Dowly and I was shot down every time:cry: But I managed to kill 13 wagons with the nuke SC2000 bombs while 2 enemy fighters were emptying their ammo at me:up:
Flying alone into a target area is dangerous because ace pilots loiter there and bounce us poor bombers. That`s how they rack up their high scores.

I agree with Hunter, Would be good to have 3 stukas and a couple of fighters.
Earlier today I was flying in my stuka to do anti ship and one guy accidently shot at me but to give him credit he and a couple of others were covering my tail after that. Thing is no one really seems to respond when you ask for cover.

back on the formations

if we do a formation as I mentioned
bombers protected by fighters
we have 2 advantages
the only trouble we have are those glory fighters. flying alone as they are affraid someone else get the credits.

1. advantage is that the bombers are a lot safe.
2. advantage is that the fighters get easy kills as bombers are more worth the points, as most fighters engage the bombers first.

Spitfire is not only your 109 nightmare Dowly ;)
it has become hell for my bombing raids as well
none of the 3 raids I did today I survived
1st. crashed at landing because the T fire camps is a OBJECT (damaged my gears)
2nd got shot down same with the 3th raid.

we really need some fighter cover!:stare:

I dont see any problem,
just make sure to fly first 1 Sortie on the server
then registrate yourself on the website Using the EXACT same nick like you used on the Server.

after that, search for Subsim aviators in the search squadron
click to join. await dowly to accept your entrance and voila :up:

the more the merrier (we currently have 7 pilots)

A formation sounds great. If the escorts fly above and a little behind us bombers they should be able to jump the enemy fighters. A big fat JU88 is like honey to a bee swarm and our escorts will have the altitude advantage when the bombers are threatened. If we get enough pilots online at the same time this should be possible.

Me and my Fiat will take care of them. Feck the 109's, this' my choice. Already bagged 4 fighters with it today. :up: It even has an fire exh. on it! And it's turn time is 6 secs better than the 109's. :) It's armament is a bit weak, but it get's the job done.

Yep, we really need to organise. Yesterday, there was me, Hunter, Frenssen & AFRIKAKORPS flying. Me & AK in fighters, Hunt & Fren in bombers. Now, the plan was to make an formation attack. But we lost each other quite fast as the airfiel came under attack and me & AK went after the fighters. When Hunt & Fren finally found eachother, they were out of escorts and dropped like flies.

Bombers are leaders, we fighters follow you. Pick your target, tell it to others and if others arent in the formation yet, tell them your location reguralery to help them find you.

That's what we are trying to do... master the 109. It's turn time is ~22-24 seconds, whereas the spit has under 20. So turning fight is out of question.

From what I've read, it seems like you're trying to "Turn and Burn" in a "Boom and Zoom" fighter.

Here's a quote from that guide that explains "Boom and Zoom"

"Boom and Zoom

Boom n’ Zoom is simply using a relative altitude advantage to attack an opponent and then return to a superior position out of danger by Zoom climbing away.

Observing these strengths and weaknesses the 109 can be categorised as a Boom and Zoom fighter. Boom and Zoom is a technique in which the attacking plane relies on an energy advantage (in either speed or altitude) in order to successfully carry out the Boom and Zoom technique. An ideal Boom and Zoom situation is one where YOU, the aggressor happens to be cruising along at an altitude of 3000 metres altitude, and further below you spot a Spitfire cruising at 1000 metres altitude. Because you are higher than the Spitfire, YOU have the advantage! therefore it is YOU who will dictate the fight. So, you decide to engage the Spitfire, you ease into a dive, use throttle as required to manage your airspeed (avoid excessively high airspeeds due to control lockup and structural damage) and scream in behind the Spitfire. You are closing on your target fast and quickly make any last second corrections to ensure a good shot. You pull the triggers, and

1. You score a number of direct hits either destroying or crippling the Spitfire. You then go through to full power and ease back into a climb to regain your altitude

2. You miss completely and zoom right on by the Spitfire, Argh! Don't despair, instead go through to full power, ease back into a climb and regain that altitude. The Spitfire can't hurt you! He doesn't have the energy to climb after you, so once you are well above the Spitfire you can simply try again, you are still in control!

Don't get impatient, resist the temptation to turnfight. Typically it takes me a few passes to knock down an enemy plane, don't get disenheartened if it takes a lot of passes to knock down an enemy plane. It takes practice and you will get better with time! To practice ingame, load up a quick mission with an enemy C47 as your target. Boom and Zoom him to death, he is a nice big target who cruises at about 300 kp/h and will take a fair amount of punishment. Great for refining those skills"

PS. And everybody keeps telling how great B&Z is "just dive in and climb". Well, a Spit that has flown uninterrupted level flight has the speed of ~400+ km/h, enough E to climb and to get me in his sights and unleash a short burts, which ALWAYS in my case either cuts my wing or the tail.

PPS. Oh yeh, and I think I found my problem. This fecking joystick. As Hunter knows, the rudder twist is a bit messed on my joystick, so I put some deadband from the settings and now when I turn, my rudder wont turn as much as it used to, resulting in 90% of cases to a stall.

:doh: :huh: Thats amazing Xabba! Today i made a mission to hunt the Tirpiz and kill her. Me and 7 SDB5s with 1600 lb boms went to hunt her and kill her. I was the last in the aquadron and 5 hits plus mine hit the target but when i was coming out of my dive the damn BB left some marks in my plane destroying the rudder which made me an easy target and all i whad lefy was spit and prayers and i had only one prayer left to hold the bomber together. and the bad news happend right as i landed on the carrier. As soon as I touched down the engine ran out of fuel and i made it to flap my wings etc. and make it home in one piece.

The cheating detected message mostly is a Glitch/bug that appears upon someone just joined the game.
it might even happen to yourself...
but its just a matter of rejoining and your good to go.

if you have, jump in the gunner seat, try to take the button that points ur view far to the left or right, then use the mouse to turn it inwards a bit more and there you go ;)

Ok just completed 2 missions in WoE without getting shot down or crashing.

First up in a Hurricane but couldn't find any air targets but found the barges.

So I went home, landed and took out and SBD-3 with a 1600 lb bomb. flew to the docks and dive bombed it. Hit 1 AA, then got jumped but fortunately I had a friendly watching me so got home safely too.

Jimbuna graciously hosts that TS server primarily for GWX use.

Jimbuna, Kpt.Lehmann, Penelope_Grey & myself are all Server Admins and either one of us can (& will) ban someone for not abiding to the servers rules.

Here's a hint, it's called Team SPEAK.

So, I ask you, what are you doing on a server designed for voice communications when you are not willing/able to vocaly interact with other members.

This is all stated in the Channel description when you enter the Lobby. The warning is there and action has been taken.

The only channel I have access to is the Flight one.

The otehr s I can't get to as I am not part of GWX and that is fine as I use it for when I am flying online. Of late the regulars are away and I am the only one in the channel so have no one to talk with.

I log on so that if I am in game peol who join later can see me there and talk.

I think if you are on your own in the flight channel then you shouldn't get kicked but the admins have made the rules. If there is someone ther then talk a bit. If they are in a different room send a text message to all, just to say hi.

Nobody will be kicked in that instance. By all means, sit in the Flight Sim channel, playing the game and waiting for others to join you. At least we understand what is happening. However, sitting, logged in for hours in the Lobby not doing anything is not on.

Xabba is correct. At the very least, send a message to ALL or Channel & make yourself known.

The rules were set in place because people started to loiter trying to gain information on GWX without actively taking part or using TS in the spirit it is intended for.

The rationale and reasoning around the GWX TS rules has been consistent since day one and has been signposted on the server for all to see, and hopefully, adhere to.

Kpt. Lehmann is a Server Amin, and as such, anyone using TS 'IS HIS BUSINESS'.
Part of his function is obviously to ensure that people abide by the few simple rules we have. THEY ARE APPLICABLE TO US ALL :yep:

I am prepared to ask him if he will reconsider your position, and if he is, I will lift your IP ban (we have two on file, which also arouses suspicion) I will also either drop the password protection for the Flight and MP channels or post them here again (a quick search over on SS will show what they are anyway....I have not changed them since Day 1)

Please remember one thing though....TS is about communicating with others and not lurking quietly in the shadows. It has been our experience in the past that people often visit, we suspect, just to glean advance information/knowledge about GWX.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back on this matter. Things are very busy for us.

Had Morts chosen to handle this privately, there would be no need for him to be embarrassed by a response from me here.

I spoke with Morts regarding lack of communication and the forum rules myself on more than one occasion. He acknowledged.

Communication is readily possible via text messaging on the TS server to individuals, channels, and all once registration is complete.

New unregistered members have fewer options that increase once registration is complete.

Morts banning from the server ocurred only after discussion with the other admins.

On the occasion that he was banned by me, it was only after he had changed his IP after being banned on a previous occasion by another admin.

In general his behavior and attempt to circumnavigate the original ban loudly suggests disregard for the intent and aims of the server.

Posting rules but not enforcing them... makes having rules pointless.

In future and in line with the other admin's wishes, and the intent of having a teamspeak server, new users should obtain a microphone. If special circumstances prevent the user from using a microphone, we will be happy to consider the issues case by case. Real life challenges happen with us all. Contrary to popular belief, we are not out to be the "Gestapo."

The decision concerning Morts banning will stand. Further potential similar issues in the future will not be commented on publicly.

We've had some time off from WoE and instead have been playing at HunterICX's own server, doing campaigns and some dogfighting. I actually though last night of giving WoE a go again. :hmm:
