Ok, So I come on line and I'm thinking what happened.
Just the other day, I think it was Brag said, "Does it seem kind of slow around here, like things are getting boring with the threads.
Next thing I know there's polls on everything, back two years ago, so what gives?
I just worked down in Hollywood on a Jessica Simpson movie called "Major Movie Star".....And I gotta tell you she more exciting than these polls..........:up::up:

hmm. something dowly said a couple of days ago......:hmm:
Apparently if you vote on a poll it brings the thread back to the top of the list even if you don't post in them.
This morning I counted 32 blinking polls, most of them ancient stuff. Threads of current interest are getting sunk by polls. Sooooo . . .
Stay out of shallow water!
Stay out of Der Kanal!
Stay out of polls!
:damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:
Maybe moderators should take a look and see if there are few pranksters out there resurrecting polls. This is getting bad.

I think some bots are performing random votes in the polls. I really doubt that some user is going through all the dang polls from the last 2 years...
Or is he? :88)
I think we have a poll epidemic in hands...
Rest assured. The epidemics will cease from natural cause. Even if some fellow member here got himself a passion for old polls and started ressurecting them, after he votes in each of them, the polls will once again sink to the bottm, as he'll be left out of "ammunition". Nobody can vote twice in a poll, AFAIK.

so just because everybody has voted doesnt mean they still cant annoy us

What these people don't realise is that others can see who's voted in the public polls. "So what?" you say...well...here's another little thing that these people don't realise - only the most recent names are displayed. In other words, those necroing the older polls to be smartarses have exposed themselves very easily.
So, go on, have a look at some of the current polls, you'll see a few consistent names in all of them. ;)
Now I'm not accusing anyone of anything untoward, but one of them has posted in this thread. ;) Although I have my suspicions on who the real PITA is...
Anyway, with the guy now out of the way and this "secret" exposed, hopefully others "who know better" will think twice and the older polls will die again...either that or those that didn't see them first time around will innocently keep them bubbling for a few days.

I only saw your name, yeah that's right!
People; take my word for it, you don't need to look.

Maybe a section for polls only would remedy this but even that could cause problems

Doesn't vBulletin have a provision for turning them off? :hmm:
It's both ridiculous and annoying to filter through all this junk to get to useful posts...
And more zombie polls keep appearing, this looks like a malicious campaign by some immature or retarded twit.
I tried to bump up a number of non-poll threads. When I checked how this clean area looked, my bumps were already sinking under the onslaught of the polls.
Moderators, help!!!!

I just examined the faq and it says something about "timelimit"...
Just a lesson to be learened: set a time limit and that's it!
There is no need for any poll to stay open until year 5 after we established contact, isn't it?
Is it possible to enforce it upon the owner of a poll to set a limit ?

please do something. People are abusing it. Thank you!
Maybe we need a poll? :D

But you also responded to the polls, posting as well as voting which is as bad IMHO.
But you also responded to the polls, posting as well as voting which is as bad IMHO.
Because the topics are still valid and enabled.
And to state my opinion clear: polls are not bad!
end a poll: fine, end is end
shut down polls at all: fine, no polls anymore, missing feature, at least because of the pure numbers of participants
keep polls open ended: fine, but please do not complain..
The possible ruleset (options) is up to the forum admins, and as long a poll poster can choose she/he will do it, educated or not but it will be definitly up to him.
I start a list of further options how the admins can react:
*) do nothing
*) shut down polls at all (both extremes ;D )
*) move polls in seperated areas
*) enforce timelimits
....
*) there a maybe more, please continue
EDIT***
*) offer a personalized ignore-filter like (poll*) or (buzzword,_i_don't_want_to_read*)
