Why do you want to do this? You can always import more ships into the game and add a bit of variety on your hunt. Check this thread http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115094 for more information

What wrong with these ships? I find them very useful as target practice for my deck gun crew:arrgh!: . That is until they become armed, then I just sink em with eels.

Most likely your best bet is to set up your own custom single mission.

This is a simulation, and being such, they've tried to make it as real and close to reality as possible, hence all the small merchants.

If you are bored with it, there are many different things you can do to try and spice things up a bit:

1) Make port raids! Sneak into enemy ports and wreck havoc. I snuck into Plymoth last night and found the HMS Hood there! It was hard to sink her because of how she was tied up and the torpedo nets! WARNING: the later you try this, the more suicidal it becomes!

2) Try changing your home port. If you're using GWX you can find yourself in South East Asia if you so desire. Small ships there too, but things are a bit different!

3) Exploring. Try to explore different places. Again, if you're using GWX, you will find so many things to go see.

4) Change your realism. Start making it harder for you to survive by turning things off: Stealth meter, real fuel consumption, realistic vunlerability, manual targeting, etc.

If after trying all these things, and even making your own custom single missions, you are still bored, then maybe it's time to retire and find a different sim to play for a while. Try coming back to SH3 after you've not used it for awhile.
