Whew! That was tough!! But I did it though! 48,360 tons of battle ship sitting partially submerged at the piers at Plymoth!

It was funny, I was bored (that's normally what makes my crew start to scream and run around in panic. The Captian's bored? Oh god no! We're gonna die!) and decided to see if I could sneek into Plymoth, was hoping for a troop ship maybe.

Only thing guarding the harbor entrance was a armed trawler and one little Elco! So I slipped on in (just missing the sub net! I saw that later on the way out!), got close and looked around through my scope.

I about dropped a brick! At first all I saw a was a lousy few small merchants, but there she was! The HMS Hood!

I sent 3 torpedos her way, and heard them detonate, but not impact! WTF???

Torpedo net! Cripes!

I waited for my reload, and this time set the depth of the topedos to 1 meter. Sure enough, they skimmed over the top of the net and slammed into the Hood's hull! Ha!

Took about 5 to sink her as I could only hit her bow at an acute angle!

That was FUN!

:up:Nice to hear your making your contribution against the English aggresors!

I caught a HMS Hood class ship at Scapa in Sept. 1939 one time

I can tell you that it is a great achivement to sink the Hood. I've done it myself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5F-XnZURb4&feature=PlayList&p=EB7927E5EF8F86D4&index=0. Check out that vid.

Congratulations!
When I started my current career in a type IIB HMS Hood was my one and only success in the first war patrol.

6.September 1939 AN16 HMS Hood

I planned it only as a recon mission but voila... and suddenly there was this unresistable urge ... you know :D
Took all ammo that I had

Are there more captains out there with Hood on their list?

I just couldn't believe that they only had one armed trawler and one elco patroling the harbor! That was PPP (p*ss poor planning) on their part!

Nope, have yet to even see her yet. Seen the Nelson plenty of times tho - not sunk her tho.

Yep, twice in Plymouth, and once on her way to attack the Bismarck.

Yep, got her, on my first ever Patrol with GWX, took 3 eels, 2 impacts hitting below B turret and just aft of the funnels and the third magentic right underneath the engine room to crack her in half, make her blow up and sink in minutes.

This was in AN49 IIRC, her escorts eventually took me to the cleaners for my deed but it was worth it :)

Just gives you a warm feelling way down in your ballast tanks, don't it.

I put Her down once Nov of either 39 or 40 off SW Ireland. And once again between Lerwick and Norway Whilst we were protecting our Northen Brothers from English expansionist aggression.

No, only 2 Revenge class BBs.
And a Nelson class BB left dead in the water, but no more torps. :( :damn:

you'll have a chance to meet up with the Hood again if you take part in the naval battles around the Norway Invasion in April of 1940. you have to be northeast of the UK submarine base and West/Northwest of Trondheim. You will catch the Hood as part of a battle group initially steaming towards Narvik. It is ringed by destroyers, but through a gap, you can fire off a salvo at her. I did this with 4 torpedoes. 1 missed, but the other 3 hit where it counted and took her down. Sadly, in that career I met my demise at the hands of a Swordfish close to the Eastern English coast. In my 9th life, I look to do this again.

I'm also still waiting for my first Hood sighting. But I have sunk a Nelson class and since yesterday also a Revenge class. :arrgh!:

Never seen the Hood but I did sink the Ark Royal just northwest of Malta in Mid 41

Using GWX, I once stumbled into Scapa Flow in late 1939 and met the holy trinity - aka HMS Hood, HMS Nelson, HMS Revenge.

Took all my torps, but went home with three huge notches on my belt - only to just receive the EK II.

Still, the adrenalin rush was worth it.

I suggest loitering due west of scapa in 1939, good chance of catching her there :arrgh!:

well it's been 13 years lol

yesterday (1939) i was returning from the Corriente and i decided to pass through scapa, and just off the coast of scotlant there they were: Hood and Nelson, so i prepared the attack carefully i was low on torpedos

fired a 4 fish salvo on Hood, 1 miss 3 hits under the keel, she sank in minutes

then i stalked Nelson for 3 hours and hiting 1 torpedo after she stopped the zig-zag she slowed down
after that i only had 2 stern torpedos so i had to reverse, after a second hit she slowed down to 3 knots so i could aim the last fish and then she sunk

i hope someone sees this after a decade

... on a Mine-Laying Mission outside Loch Ewe, mid October 1939, I sank HMS Hood anchored outside the harbour, with the only 2 torpedoes at my disposal, in my type IIB boat ... HMS Nelson and a large Cruiser were anchored inside the harbour basin ...

One time i found HMS Hood and a Nelson BB sailing completely unescorted out of the northern entrance of the British isles, the weather was awful but i sent em both under

My best score was in the Gibralter straits in late '40 career. 4 T-1's --ALL worked fired at long range to the detriment of the Nelson.

Best score ever achieved in SH III.

just sunk the 5th HMS Hood of my career. At AM65 i was just sailing past there in british waters when my WO spots a stationary warship, i figured it was HMS Hood so i lined up and fired 2 torpedoes between Turret A and B where the ammunition is stored and i got a big explosion and it quickly sunk

Probably, tho the only things i have unchecked in realism settings is Free View for screenshots and Noise meter that i'll disable later on once i find that i can do just fine without it
