This is a truly "lucky" story. I was involved in a car accident (fell asleep behind the wheel) and landed up hidden from passersbys. It was only the quick thinking of a night watchman who heard the crash over the sounds of thunder and lightning and alerted the police. They found me about 6 hours later. Two days later I awoke in hospital.
Don't understand the police attitude here in her case though. Surely the police should be more "awake" and not presume. If she had died I would think he would have a good case of negligence against them. 8 days lying in a wreck - remarkable woman.

I agree, I would sue over this, bigtime. Let them try to prove they get 10 missing person cases a week, because IMO, they did not do their jobs in this case.

The problem Neal is that there are a lot of people who wander off or don't show up for a few days. This happens so much that most police departments will not take a report in the first 24 hrs. The FBI states there are over 500,000 people reported missing each year. I don't know how many remain missing, but's probably about 1,000.
And these are the ones reported after 24hrs, think about how many calls a big city police dept. gets each night. People leave cause of all kinds of insane reasons, leaving their loved ones wondering what happened.
I think that they could have tried the cell phone system earlier, but I have a feeling because of personal privacy laws, they might have to wait a certain amount of time before utilizing it.
The amazing thing is that this women ran off the road and no one saw it. Unless it was very late or the road has very few vehicles on it, you would think someone saw something. And it sounds like there's not much evidence showing where she went off other than matted grass and bushes.
At least they did find her alive, and how many times did her husband go by that same spot and never noticed anything.
Once again it comes down to evil people. If everyone was good, the police would look right away. But instead the husband immediately became a "peron of interest", only because so many times in these days people kill each other for almost nothing........:nope: :nope: :nope:
