I was out to sea last night in my type VIIB U-45 commanded by Rickman, when my radioman brought me a message:
From: U-38
To: BdU
Finished patroling sector. No shipping sighted. Patroling sea lanes, no shipping sighted.
My first thought immediatly that popped in my head was:
"Press the attack!"
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
NOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm thinking too much like BdU!!!
"From: Bdu
To: U-38
Be more agressive!"

I see a flotilla command in your immediate future, maybe a tour in Berlin or Paris after that. While the rest of us smell the salt air and the odor Bernard left after eating all those bad eggs, you'll be smelling the odor of clean pressed uniforms during the day, and french mistresses at night:rotfl:

That sort of thinking, makes me wonder if your cut out being a U-boat commander.
Stick with a desk job, and leave U-boat commanding to those who don't think like BDu.

Think of how cool it would be if the BdU messages were sent out on a random basis:
From: U-543
To: BdU
Sunk the Nelson and three large tankers.
*****
From: BdU
To: U-543
Be more agressive!
:damn:

I seriously wish that BdU would send more.......constructive radio messages!
I seemed to remember, just after installing GWX, that I got a message from BdU, telling us that intellegence indicated that a British Task Force would be entering the Channel from the Atlantic, escorting some capital ship, who's name escapes me now, between such and such date, to such and such date.
Now, I don't know if this was just eye candy, as I had just finished attacking a convoy and was on my way home when I got this message and had no more torpedos to use (no, I won't engage fleet ships with my deck gun. I'm crazy, but not THAT crazy.). So I was not able to go there and look.
However, it would be really cool to have things like that once in a while.
Of course when I thought "Press the attack!" above, it was more like I was thinking what BdU was going to say to the poor smucks on U-38!
I spent 3 years on shore duty as an instructor while in the Navy. It was great duty, as I being married with kids I was home for most of those 3 years.
But the entire time, I really missed being out to sea. There's just something about being on the water..................:shrugs:

Things like that do occur and have occured in my experiences.
I've actually had BDU direct me to areas where convoys and certain target ships were steaming.
