Hi all

I'm willing to print a german transcription of the U-Boot commander's Handbook, but I don't want it in DIN A4 size, but instead half of that.

Is it possible to prepare a document for printing in a DIN A4 sheet horizontally instead of vertically? :hmm: I could then fold the sheets in two on the centre and have a more reasonable size handbook :88)

Thanks for any help

Isn't this a matter of going into Page Setup and selecting Landscape, rather than Portrait?

That's what I was thinking.

If you just select Landscape the text will run across the full page, what I'd do is split the page into a couple of columns, using the Format/Columns menu item. Then you can tweak the layout with the Width and Spacing values (width of column and spacing between them) and other options, such as a line between the columns, can also be played about with in there. Changing the page's border sizes using the File/Page Setup menu item may also help with formatting.

Here's an example of what I mean: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/lesrae/junk/example.doc

The main problem with this method is that you have to be clever with the page ordering to get it to work when folded up, or you have to cut the pages up.

Edit: I notice while playing with this that 2003 has an option to 'Book Fold' multiple pages under the Page Setup command, but it doesn't seem to do what it's supposed to on my machine - I'll have to play around with it a bit.

Thanks for your replies

Lesrae posted what I was looking for. Must study it a bit and see how I can do it faster (It's 100 pages!) :yep:

You can format the whole document into columns at one time, select it all and then format into columns, or create a new document with columns and paste the contents of the existing one into it. Either way though, you'll have to do a fair bit of tidying up.

Have fun :D
