I downloaded the most recent update [1.7.0.80] to JSGME (I uninstalled all of my mods with the old version of JGSME first) and installed it into my game....
now my game will not run at all!
The game keeps telling me I have too many crew, and crew requirement is zero!

Unless someone in the community has an solution for this, I think that I am looking at a whole un-install/re-install of the game ...... in which case I will be using the old version of JSGME.
i have already e-mailed Jonesoft about this...awaiting reply.

I have had not this problem, but something simular.
After loading a mod or something, even in dock, sometimes all my crew dissapear.
All I have to do as a work around, is load the save, "In base after mission" instead of "In base before mission"

Tried it, no luck.
Whether for existing or new careers, the crew requirements always come up like "4/0" and game will not launch because I have "too many officers" or sailors etc.
My e-mail didn't reach Jonesoft either.
I'm going to have to do a complete uninstall/re-install. :damn:

I did a complete un-install and re-install of SH3/GWX, and I still cannot start a career because no matter which submarine I choose I am always told that I have too many crew!
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l254/Eric-Petras/b.jpg
The crew requirements for all ranks on all subs now always come up zero!
I cannot find any way to change this.
Unless someone here has a remedy for this, I can no longer play my favorite game.

Are you using a totally clean version of GWX?
When you uninstalled GWX did you delete the SH3Folder in C\My Documents?
Sorry I can't think of anything else right now

I deleted all SH3 files and folders, and re-installed SH3 and GWX from scratch.
The JSGME version now installed is 1.4.1.50, which worked fine before.
If I had not installed JSGME 1.7.0.80 last night, I would still be playing now.

I don't think it's something to do with JSGME. Why don't you try to load the game without enabling any mods. See if that works

I've already tried that.
This whole thing started with a JSGME update, so yes it does have something to do with JSGME.

OK I understand that, but when you reinstalled GWX you did not installed the new JSGME right? you used the older version that comes with the game. Am I correct in this or I'm missing something?
I'm sorry to be pedantic mate but I'm trying to understand the problem and what exactly you did so I can help you. I know what it means not to be able to play GWX. Be patient and we'll fix it I'm sure of that

Correct. When I reinstalled SH3 and GWX, I did not install JSGME 1.7.0.80.
My GWX reinstall contains JSGME 1.4.1.50, which I was using successfully before this all started.
Sequence: I had clicked on "updates" in my JSGME file and found the version 1.7.0.80 available, so I downloaded it, disabled all mods with my existing version 1.4.1.50, then installed version 1.7.0.80 .... and my game stopped working. It will load up, but I cannot start a career because of this zero crew requirement bug. It just says that I have too many crew and sends me back to barracks.

Since it is working for you with the JSGME version that comes with the game why update? I would suggest you stick with the old version for a while until Jaesen sees this thread and clarifies the problem.
You did reenable all the mods you disabled before trying to play, correct? Do you use SH3 Commander? If so, did you roll it back before uninstalling the mods?

It was working with the old version, but no longer....I updated it because I thought the new version would be better ...something in the installation of the update caused the problem. It matters not which version of JSGME runs now, because the problem occurs with both.
It is as if the coding in the game itself has been changed...I now always require zero crew and have too many, and the game will not start because of this.:damn:

That's really odd mate. I'm using the new JSGME without any problems, so there must be something else going wrong. Try installing SH3 and see if you have proplems. If you don't then install GWX 1.00 (and work your way up to v1.03) and see how things are. That way you take out the possible error variables one by one. I know it's a messy thing to do but I cannot think of anything else at the moment.

I would say reinstall GWX but don't install JSGME, make sure the game runs fine that way first. That way you can be sure there isn't a stray leftover file from the update left on the computer. If it works try loading the older version of JSGME and see what happens. Then do the mods one at a time.

First the best news: it's working again! :)
Thank-you to all for your advice.
I am sure now that I must have done something wrong during installation of the JSGME update....just what, I'll never know.
Shortly after my last post my power unit burnt out, so I've been out of touch while my PC has been in the shop.
I took advantage of the opportunity to upgrade my hard drive from 40 GB to 500 GB! :D
So last night I reloaded the game from scratch, checking each installed version step by step along the way, and no problems now. :sunny:
