I haven't heard of any of those. Are they on in the UK?
I enjoyed the 1st complete Sherlock.H reading radio 4 did with C.Hobbs but not the second one...I forget who acted in that one.
I can't stand A.Christie, but perhaps the wireless doesn't do her justice. It put me off ever reading her anyway. :shifty:

Oh!!! I know what I like!

It's a comedy/crime with ingenious crime puzzles.
The main detective is a noteable british comedian appears on 'QI' (David....(?) ).
He has lots of curley hair.
In the program he lives in a windmill with his fictional wife who is also a noteable british comedian.

I just can't remember the dammed name!

*edit* Jonathan Creek! With Alan Davis and Caroline Quentin!

Bloody fantastic that was!

I find Caroline Quentin very sexy and I'm not sure why.

Remembering my love for Johnathan Creek I have started watching the 3rd episode (never seen this one!).

A actor with arthritis so bad that he could never hold a gun and shoot himself has been
found dead in a bunker 30ft underground, sorrounded by solid rock with a gun in his hand. He was shot through
the head. On the way down to the bunker the police had to break down a wooden door
locked from the inside and cut through a thick steel door; also locked from the inside.
The only other "entrance" to the bunker/cellar is a 4 inch pipe that goes down into the
floor.

I'm stumped! Any guesses?

*edit* More Clues!

That 4 inch pipe is for a toilet that was never installed. There was a suspicious bit of cotton wool near it!
In a box full of toilet rool and light bulbs there was a 100W light bulb in a box marked 40W bulbs. :hmm:

*edit2* Oh it's so simple now!

Of the suggestions in the poll list, I can't really take any of them too seriously.

They pass the time, but CSI takes to extremes the farcical fantasy many TV shows of that ilk perpetuate, i.e. the supposed 'crime scene investigators' who, aside from their work in the moodily-lit labaroratory, apparently also have the job of making arrests, interrogating suspects, carrying out undercover surveillance, doing the associated detective work, working out psychological profiles etc, etc. In fact, it seems about the only thing they don't do is hand out speeding tickets.

Someone also needs to point out that when you go to a crime scene in a house, you don't actually need to use a torch, if you simply turn the lights on it will be far easier to spot clues.

And why the constant need to flashback the obvious throughout the entire program? Like this...

Detective 1: What do you think happened here?
Detective 2: I think the victim was shot by a sniper rifle.
Cue slo-mo footage of sniper rifle in grainy duo tones with echoey sound.

Yes, thank you, we know what a sniper rifle is, get on with it!

I'm waiting for them to do CSI Derbyshire, I can see it now: theme tune will obviously have to be another song by The Who, so I'll go for Boris the Spider. A typical episode will involve the theft of a tractor and its subsequent recovery in a field four miles away.

But other would be either Equalizer or Mike Hammer.

First choice:

Roy Marsden as P.D. James' Inspector Adam Dalgleish.

http://img394.imageshack.us/img394/9474/jamesdalgleishgw1.jpg

2nd choice:

CSI Las Vegas. I find NY mediocre and Maimi too soap opera like.

3rd choice:

The Law & Order series, in general. I can't pick out one sub-series from another. Many good episodes overall, with some flops sprinkled among them but nobody's perfect.

Want to get nostalgic? Consider Perry Mason (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/104-2847172-5404756?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=perry+Mason) and Hawaii 5-0 (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_d/102-2017472-0844116?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=hawaii+5-0). Almsot no special effects and some classic acting.

Best thing in Crime recently on German TV was "Örnen", a danish miniseries.
Can't really say much about the US shows, as we only get them dubbed and that destroys most of the dialogue anyway.
While Germans are certainly crime show fans, most german made crime shows are british style whodunits that are about as realistic as the above mentioned "midsummer murders".
There are exceptions, but I generally do not watch german crime shows.
Best german cop show recently was "KDD", a really depressing show about a run down precinct in Berlin with quite realistic problems like immigrant violence, poverty crime, neglect and corruption.

I love Law and Order, especially when uber-detective Lennie Briscoe was catching the bad guys, but Inspector Morse is really the gold standard. The plots and acting in that series were second to none.

I know what you mean. Nothing really worth watching most of the time.

The wife just "persuaded" me to buy her a 42" plasma. So now with some digital reception, I have a few more options, but they won't take long to wear thin.

I actually watch every show listed in the poll.:o It's difficult to pick between the three Law and Order series and the original CSI, as I really like them all. I watch CSI: Miami fairly often as well, but at times, it seems kind of annoying and cheesy. I didn't like CSI: NY at all when it first aired (the characters seemed too dull, for one thing), but I am starting to watch it a bit more lately.
