I usually watch "Boot" with German audio and English subtitles. For something different I thought I would try it with English/English. Sometimes the crew are having entirely different conversations than what the subtitles indicate. I understand that perhaps they wanted to clean up a lot of the racey stuff for the Anglo release, but why change so much of the other inoccuous stuff? I mean, it seems at times that they are working from a different script. Anyone know anything about this?

To tell you the truth, I never knew about this, thank you for bringing this up. I'm loading it up now to check it out.

This has been mentioned a while back.....a film with so many variants that was aimed at such a wide and diverse audience was always going to have subtle 'differences'.
I do agree with you though. Provided there were identical words in both German and English languages, there should have been very few differences. :nope:
I don't speak German, but I wonder if it was down the lack of understanding of both languages by the person responsible for the sub titles. :hmm:
I'm sure a German speaking colleague will be along shortly to help us out.

Venatore: Thanks so much for your many terrific mods. You are one of the guys who made this such a great sim.

This version I am referring to is the "Original Uncut" version of Boot. I have the others but don't know if this is the case with them as well.

The "directors cut" dvd, and the double pack vhs tape have different subtitles too.:hmm:

The Director's Cut subtitles are much closer to what they're saying. I love the 'Original, Uncut Version' and hail it as the best, but I agree: the subtitles tell a different story, I don't know why they did that, but sometimes it's fun to watch the dubbed version with the subtitles on just for a laugh.
