Halo 1 2 or 3 when it comes out

I played Halo 1 on xbox then play Halo 2 on PC, I dont own a 360 anymore so will probably have to wait for it to come out on PC which will probably be 5years from now. :lol:

I think "Gears of War" is a better game than the halo series

My brother got a copy for his 360, so I gave it a crack. Now, I'm certainly not a Halo fanboy who thinks it's God's gift to gaming or anything: After all it is an FPS, a genre which has been done to death, however I still found it very enjoyable, with a wide variety of unique weapons and vehicles, plus huge and gorgeous environments to explore, and a few memorable gaming moments, such as the Warthog run at the end of the game, an obvious tribute to the first Halo (though this one was far, far better done).

The lighting and shadow effects are awesome, as is the water; I may find myself replaying some of the single player missions just to see those environments again. It also wraps up the story arc of the other two games convincingly.

In conclusion, obviously FPS games like Halo aren't intellectualy challenging like subsims or grand-stratergy games, thus they will be looked down upon in some quarters, however I find them to be a relaxing diversion when I want to turn off my brain and enjoy, much like action movies like Commando.

I've only listed these 5 because they are AAA games exclusive to the PS3 but there is so much more aswell.

BTW, the Xbox 720 is slated for release in 2009/2010 cos they need to keep up with the PS3.

I'll have to chime in with Dowly here - Halo = boring shooter, and has the most hype of any boring shooter short of DaiKantana. I've never seen so much hype for a sub par game.

I've played most shooters released, and can say that I was absolutely bored playing Halo. It offered nothing new except somewhat decent physics. I take that back - I did have some fun with Halo since it had good physics at a time when physics was only rudimentary in other games. It was fun to see how high one could blast things with a grenade. As for gameplay - boring!

Halo 3, as reported by most reviews, has below average graphics by todays standards and offers almost no new gameplay over Halo 2. Sounds about as exciting as getting the dog water.

One thing is greatly apparent though - You can buy excitment and longing for a sub-par product I see. And they said that money can't buy you everything. It seems to me, you can definetly buy emotion! :D

PS. Here is a review on the graphics portion:

The graphics department is where Halo 3 falters. When I complained about the graphics of Halo 2 I was always told, "It isn't about the graphics it's about the gameplay". I'm not buying that this time around. That works with games like Guitar Hero where the gameplay really is everything but in a first-person shooter it has to be about the graphics. Halo 3's graphics aren't offensive but they don't always impress. I held this game to a higher standard than most because Microsoft kept telling me how it would change my life and that it was the best game imaginable. If that's the case the graphics better blow me away and they don't.

The terrain is blocky in places, some areas are desperately in need of a pass or two of anti-aliasing, and a few indoor areas don't have any real shadows. Rather than rendering the shadows dynamically they're just painted as dark areas into the textures. Even in the outdoor areas the environment shadows don't always lay over other objects (like people and vehicles that pass under them). The thing about the visuals is that they are good enough. They won't take away from the game experience but they only shine in a few places.

So true. I just don't understand why this series has so much hype. It's as if the people who love it have never really played fps games before. A friend actually convinced me to buy halo 2 when it came out and I was extremely disappointed. I cancelled my 'live' account and haven't bought another xbox game since then.

On another note, I really hope cod 4 doesn't get too dumbed down and arcadish like cod2 was.

I don't see why Microsoft needs to "keep up" with Sony, considering the 360 is outselling the PS3 by more than 2 to 1. The PS3 has been a trainwreck from day 1.

But the real winner of this console generation is obviously the Wii, which is selling as fast as the other two combined.

However, globally it is a different story because the data collected by MS & Sony differ in how it's compiled. MS track consoles shipped & Sony track console sold. The figures are always debateable and are extremly hard to compare, don't forget the 360 had nearly 18 months head start over the PS3.

Anyway, the reason for MS developing the 720 on the time scale I mentioned is due to the PS3 being a 8 - 10 yr console. The 360 will not be able to compete with the advances made in that time, where as the PS3 will (as soon as game devs finally work out how to use the cell to it's fully capacity). I firmly believe that 2008 will be the PS3's year, with 8-10 exclusive AAA titles to come, compared to the 360's 5 exclusives.

I am well aware that this type of discussion can quite easily turn into fanboy against fanboy and I don't wish to go down that route.

On a last note, I agree, the Wii has proved itself to be extremely innovative and for a console is extremely family orientated, it deserves to be up there witht eh big boys.

Own all 3 Halo titles. Halo 3 in HD looks fantastic. I have to say I've never laughed so much playing a game as I have playing H3.

My 2 sons love to get on the new ATVs in H3 and race (on the new version of Zanzibar). I love to get the Brute Shot and have "fun with Physics". The Brute Shot doesn't kill them, but it does cause some crazy reactions from the vehicles. They are so focused on racing that my griefing becomes the game, and is hilarious. Until you try it, you won't get it, but it may be the hardest I've laughed playing a game...2 hours straight...laughed every time.

Its not Rainbow Six, but it is fun; and isn't that what a game is supposed to be?

No, I don't think sales will improve significantly; to my knowledge they never have in the past at at this point in a console's life cycle; If you check this historical comparison (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20071004112437.html), you'll not that the PS3's to-date sales are actually worse than the much-maligned Nintendo GameCube's were at the same point in it's life. Face it, Sony screwed up big time here, they wen't from #1 to dead last in a single generation. The fact that the PS3 was out later than the 360 yet still is selling only half the number of units is definatly a strake against it: According to the market research firm NPD, 276,000 360s made it to end-users in August, compared to 130,000 PS3s. This Christmas will be do or die time for the PS3, and they don't have a popular sales-driver game like MS has in Halo 3, or Nintendo in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the longer a console is on the market, the less a "killer app" will boost it's sales (for instance, despite record sales I don't expect Halo 3's impact on the 360's sales to be huge, certainly not the way Halo 1 boosed the original XBox, which was released simultaniously to the console in North America).

BTW, I think it's particularly telling that at my local EBGames, the PS3 is the only console that you can actually pick up on the store floor, and there are always plenty in stock: If you want a 360 or Wii, you have to ask the clerk to get one from the back.

Well, I'm with you Dowly all the way! Theyr all stupid games. Never played No 1, but Halo 2 seems like a crappy rip-off of Red Faction and Halo 3 looks nothing special, the graphics look like F.E.A.R and the multiplayer looks a lot like Quake. Long live Half Life!!!!!! btw, X-Box sucks.
