My earlier Joke about Vista SP1 installing Windows XP actually has a bit of truth to it! :o

While Microsoft is still pushing Vista hard, the company is quietly allowing PC makers to offer a "downgrade" option to buyers that get machines with the new operating system but want to switch to Windows XP.

That's the best confirmation so far that despite their constant smiles and talking how wonderful the sale numbers are - Vista is not only doing bad, but really very bad. Mr. MS is not the type of guy that would do those annoying never satisfied roadrunner-critics a favour when allowing them to downgrade their OS - Mr. Micro-"always the optimist"-soft would only behave like this if the pressure either by the industry or by low sale numbers or by both is significant, if not immense.
Sitting here, smiling while typing. :D

Well, Vista for one is missing most of the enhancements it was hyped to have, which is what makes it mostly disappointing. It is nothing more than XP2 with more RAM and CPU requirements than ever before. At work, with nothing loaded, I am still trying to figure out what is eating 600 MB.
