I was just wondering (Not even sure if this is the proper place for this post but it's the only one with a dedicated U-Boat crowd) If anyone wants to gather some time on mIRC and RP a continueing U-Boat crew. Focusing as much on the human aspect of it as it does combat. Just an idea incase anyone is interested. I have a good amount of Role playing and Game Master experience. What would everyone think to such an development?

Can you give an example, as I'm very limited if not dead in the water with how/what we would do ? and the role playing ? :hmm:

I assume this would have to be strictly a paper & pencil type game your proposing?

Not sure how much fun it would be to roll dice for DC attack damage. But I'm listening...

I've RPed on mIRC before. And again, I was thinking of RPing every aspect of U-Boat men. Both on the boat and when in port in between patrols.

And no not strictly pen and paper, But yes dice-rolls for some things. depending on your skill in your particular field as well as a touch of luck. But not obsessive pen and paper like AD&D. Problem with Pen and Paper is that it's all a chart war really, it's just one combat after another with no role playing. What I'm thinking is more of a story approach. Like a novel that everyone participates in with their own character. Though keep in mind, not everyone can play captains. At least not in the same story.

This is basically people who know the world of U-Boat life. RPing not just the convoy attacks. But also dinner, off-duty hours, etc. Use your imagination. the RPG is completely text. It's your ability as a writer as well as your fertile imagination that can make something like this enjoyable as well as interesting.

If no-one is interested in doing a real-time RPG on IRC there's also a Forum thread RPG where people post their part of the story as time goes. These are just little ideas we can do for fun.

Why don't you consider TeamSpeak, you have both text and voice comms :hmm:

Nah, not for me then... but you guys, go have fun with that.

I already role-played lunch today with the wife, and I probably gotta role-play dinner again tonight with the wife, kids and parents. But you at least give me an idea; I'll bring along a 1d6 in case we can't decide on the appetizer.

Sounds like more of a creative writing assignment to me.
I didn't care much for the Zork games either...

Ah the joys of giving up the evil weed. How long has it been?

Might be up for this it's been a while since I did any roleplaying.

Remember my time playing a Star Trek bridge crew SIM on mIRC. Good times...
