I missed this so far, but checked their website, and found: yes, it's true, in germany calling the Microsoft support for vista and Office 2007 costs you 0.14 cents telephone fees and 72 Euros as payment for Microsoft dealing with your question. Microsoft says that is okay since their "service personell in the call centre is highly qualified." I think it indicates something different: that they do not want you to call them and waste their precious time.

If you buy vista not as OEM, but separately, you have the first 90 days free. After that it's cash day for Ms if you need their help. OEM versions do not have this 90 days perios of time.

Qualified or not, wether it be computer related problems or telephone companies: whenever I had tried a telephone hotline is earlier years, it was a complete 100% failure and a total waste of time and money, without a single exception.

Service according to uncle Bill: "Get milked!" Saves your bones from breaking when carrying too much money. I must admit, customer service is something very different in my understanding.
