Side emblems

Just started a brand new career in a Type IX. I've never driven one of those babies before so figured I'd give it a whirl. Had a spectacular first patrol sinking the Nelson I might add and returned to base with 74000 BRT under my belt :cool:

I didnt attempt any equipment upgrades prior to the first patrol just in case of any 'first patrol bugs' but before my second I upgraded the hydrophone and then tried to paint on my lucky side emblem. But under the extras heading there was nothing for side emblems. Is this normal for type IX's?

Yeah for a longtime now. Driving the type vii's it was always there as an option

Boat Emblems have nothing to do with the boat you're using. They should be in the "Extras" Tab in the upgrades menu. Check the C\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX\Data\Emblems\SubEmblems Folder to see if they're there.

Emblems are all there Mel. This is the first time in x amount of patrols that I havent been able to choose one. When I click on extras in the ingame u-boat menu there is nothing though. I'll check again when I dock after this patrol.

My lucky emblem has seen me through many, many sinkings. Just wont feel right to implode without it :cry:

I'm not close to my installation at the moment. Nevertheless did you eollback SH3Cmdr before enabling Mods etc? That's usually a reason for problems in the game. At the moment I can't think of anything else

Havent enabled a mod for a few weeks now. Its no biggie anyhow. Just thought it might have been a common thing with the types. Game is starting to get glitchy all over. Getting loads of CTD's regarding the display drivers whenever I play Gwx these days. Something isn't right somewhere :hmm:

My memory is probably faulty, but I thought you couldn't place an emblem before the first patrol of a career.:-?

You can on the first patrol and still get renown though. That is how i christen (sp) my new boat and career. cant imagine sailing fresh without one.:huh:

How much renown did you have? IIRC you need at least 1500 in the bank to get an emblem.

Sometimes I get this. I always click every tab under the u-boat table, and from time to time have noticed that emblems do not appear. No idea why, but sometimes it takes a couple patrols for them to come back.

I've never been able to add an emblem until I return from my second patrol. Not sure why, but I've always imagined that HQ wouldn't let me have one till I proved myself and they were sure I wouldn't just jinx it ;)

How much renown did you have? IIRC you need at least 1500 in the bank to get an emblem.

Renown isn't a problem. I sank the Nelson :smug:

You may have answered your initial question here :yep:

If your getting multiple CTD's there is clearly something wrong.....sometimes older drivers work better on some applications than the newer ones.
Try reverting back to an earlier driver :hmm:

Just docked after my second patrol. Went to extras and there was the option for side emblem. This PC is getting freaky or else I'm drinking too much... or possibly not drinking enough :hmm:

Sorry for the necroposting, I just ran in a similar problem.

I fudged something while doing a system restore on WinXP, my SH3 was unstable, so I reinstalled: SH3, patch, GWX1.03, SH3Commander.

I had saved my mods and career files and put them back on the new install. Game runs perfect, I still have my career with renown, decorations, logs, crew, sub modifications etc. As if I had never reinstalled.

However, the emblem tab is no longer there under the "Special" category in the upgrade screen.

I had kept my custom emblems, and since I had saved my career files, my emblem is still visible on my boat, both in-game and on the upgrade display. I cannot, however, change it.

No problems, otherwise. I just wish I was still able to change if I ever feel like it, or if I change boats. Any development as to what causes this bug?

PS. I haven't gone on patrol yet, I just reinstalled and test-played once, but I have to run. Maybe it'll come back after a couple patrols, but I'd rather understand why than just hope.
