What other video games are you playing?

I remember this question being asked some time ago - but haven't seen anything recently (my apologies if it has!).

As for me, I recently discovered Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a RPG game that has me mesmerized. It requires a lot of computer power! :88)

Silent Hunter is the other game I play the most, but in the past have played COD/COD2, BF2, NASCAR 2003 and Yager (an obscure German flight combat FPS w/RPG elements).

I've just started playing Flight Simulator X. The visuals in that game are truely stunning, as is the accuracy of the scenery.

Apart from GWX, I also play SH3 War Ace Campaign and SH4. I'm also planning a return to a couple of my great loves - Rome Total Realism (the Rome Total War supermod) and Medieval 2 Total War.

The last few weeks is has been SH3/GWX only. But before I discovered GWX I also played games like Hearts of Iron 2 Doomsday, IL2 1946, COD1 & 2, Rome Total War, Company of Heroes and some other games I can't remember right now. These are games I've played the last couple of years. Before that I've played lots and lots of other games, mainly war sims and sports games. :smug:

SH3 with GWX has taken up most of my gaming time for the past year or so, but I do like to fire up Dangerous Waters and Sub Command just to keep my hand in. Also, the odd 5-10 minutes has been devoted to a ZX Spectrum emulator and playing some golden oldies.

So what's the verdict on IL2 1946?

I love the idea of flying a Sabre... just haven't been able to warm up to the IL series for some reason. Maybe it's the memory of those clown planes I was forced to fly in the first one? :nope:

After posting on this thread I compared IL2 1946 and Janes WWII Fighters and prefer Janes for grafics and sound and game play. As this is my personal preference I will also say IL2 1946 has alot going for it too. For one thing since it's a newer game there is a better chance for on line play.

I would like to hear from others who have both games and get their opinions.

Not that it matters but I use X-52's with rudder pedals.

Yeah, BF2, BF2142 (just started concentrating on this one again.. too long between ranks in BF2 once you hit the Lieutenant ranks!), BF-Vietnam, BF1942.. started up Madden '06 for the fun of it again.. and the occasional round of Americas Army.

Shesh, I've turned from a Strategy Junkie in my younger days to a FPS freak.. God have mercy on my soul!!

but IL2: 1946 is a great game, especially if you look for online action which nowadays has a lot to offer with great mission types wich is not only Dogfighting but trying to achieve a goal and win the map before you lost all your planes.

Well, its cool to see so many favorable mentions of GWX. Its really nice to feel like we aren't wasting our time building it.

Between work and school there isn't much time to do anything more than work on GWX...

However on rare occasions, I climb into a green-tailed crate in the Over Flander's Fields mod for CFS3 and patrol the Western Front with Jagdstaffel 5. I love the way those Albatrosses sound like Harley Davidsons flying through the air. (Heck my favorite part is starting the engine.) I'm a WWI pilot at heart. It is where I came from (where my online name originates) and probably will be the last flightsim genre I ever play. (By the way... there is no time compression in OFF... It is all done in real time!)

Right now I'm not really playing anything. I reinstalled Oblivion a couple weeks ago and played a little bit but that has been all. I haven't even reinstalled SH3 since reinstalling Windows about a month and a half ago. I probably haven't actually played SH3 in probably a year or more. I am eyeing SH4 if they release a patch 1.4 for it, and in all likelihood will probably get Shivering Isles for Obilvion. Other than those two, I'm not sure there is anything else that really interests me anymore.

OFF looks cool. I've never played a WWI flight sim except Aces High for SNES if you can call that a flight sim. :88)

Yeah bf2 and sh3 are my most played. I also enjoy 1942 and vietnam.I dont really like 2142 exceptf for titan matches.
