ITLAPD) is a parodic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parody) holiday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday) invented in 1995 by John Baur ("Ol' Chumbucket") and Mark Summers ("Cap'n Slappy"), of the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States), who proclaimed September 19 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_19) each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate). For example, an observer of this holiday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holiday) would greet friends not with "Hello", but with "Ahoy, me hearty!" The date was selected because it was the birthday of Summers's ex-wife and consequently would be easy for him to remember.

Someone needs to convince coast radio stations to observe this holiday.

"Yaaar! Avast your message!"

"If ye be man enough, switch to channel eighty-three!"

"Yaaar! Station telling tales on sixteen! This be United States Coast Guard Group! Sixteen be reserved fer ye calling and ye distress! Avast ye illegal communications to a work channel or prepare to meet thy maker! DEAD MAN TELL NO TALES!"

"Yar! I copy your message! There be no traffic in your area! Beware of the fishing and yacthing scum!"

...

Yeah, I know, I'm lame. My buddy and I had actually come up with a couple of these that were actually funny, but I guess I forgot most them.

Or you have to spend WAY too much time speaking in a VHF to find any of these funny.

But then, I actually came up with ICS jokes the other day. ICS *poop* jokes. *Maybe*, just *maybe*, I need a life.

The holiday is of particular importance to Pastafarians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastafarian) (those who follow the teachings of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster)) who consider pirates to be absolute divine beings and the original Pastafarians.

I can just imagine what all those old WW II movies would sound like if they had been done in Pirate-speak.
:arrgh!:

"The Enemy Below"
"Arrrr, turn starboard, ya scurvy scum, lest ya want a fish in yr side."

"Run Silent, Run Deep"
"Aye, it was Bungo Pete that'll be sending ya to Davy Jones' Locker, it will. Took a nip off my old leg, he did."

Anyone come up with something for "Midway" ?

Aye be thinkin' that this be a stupid idear, prob'ly thought up by some landlubbers wishin' they was pirates. Aye be thinkin' aye don't want to be talkin' like no pirate, and not one o' ye can make me.
