Hi all. I'm trying to find out if I can run SH4 smoothly before I decide whether to "defect" from SH3. The technical sticky has a link to a groovy ubisoft "Can you run it?" test; I ran it and it said that my machine passes all the recommended requirements.

However, my experience of games is this: whatever the publisher says is the recommended spec, is actually the minimum spec.

So if someone would tell me... can my machine run SH4 and what kind of framerates can I expect?

Thanks!

My specs:
ATI X800 XT (256Mb)
AMD Athlon FX-55 (2.6GHz)
2Gb RAM
Windows XP Professional (SP2)

All looks good to me with exception of the videocard.

Yeah, you can still run it.

You likely won't be able to crank it all the way up, but it'll run. I'm guessing that stock will run at about medium-medium/high gfx settings fairly smoothly.:arrgh!:

So be it,........Jedi!:stare:

Just kidding.:D

Seriously though , low to meduim settings should be ok, but the vid card may need to be changed.

Have fun, but be back before midnight, ok?

Thanks for the info peeps. Hmm, sounds like a tough call... I want SH4 cos I'm a graphics whore, but I don't want it bad enough to upgrade... :hmm:

Yes, you can!

You'll only have to disable Volumetric Fog (which only the 8800 GTx can really handle) and with a processor like that you can crank up the Time Compression very nicely. Just don't go beyond the 1280 resolution.

Hey, your configuration is (slightly) better than the ones used to develop the game.

So, have fun :arrgh!:

Don't worry - even at mid range settings it looks nice!

I've got the ATi x800 Pro TVD 256MB and run with (on average) 50FPS

Ive set up the game without fog (drops to 25 or so)

When you don't look at the screenies on the forum to often you won't notice you're lacking some effects. Besides they'll make you drool and you're going to endup buying a new Vid Card sooner than you think.
