HI all,
My current card appears to be in its death throes (only a bit over a year old to). It is a 6600 or something like that. It ran SH4 pretty well, so long as I didn't use the transparent water, etc.
What is the best AGP card out there to get right now?
Thanks,

A lot seem to like the ATI X1950 pro.

An GF7800GS or ATI X1950Pro will see you good.......
AGP cards are a dying breed these days. I dought ATI or NVidia will make any more AGP cards after these.
You'll need an new PC or an new motherboard to take advantage of PCI Express......

There are specs around for new AGP DX10 cards out there too, if you're that way inclined.
The ATI X1950-XTX is probably the best spec'd card Ive seen though.
Huge BUS speeds, and DDR4 memory.

Yep agreed on the ATI card.
Make sure your power supply can handle it.
Also be aware these cards have really really noisy fans (and generate a fair amount of heat).
For SH4 if you can still find a GeForce 7600GT AGP that should be plenty to run it as long as your not running really high resolutions. They are over $200 cheaper too.

the minimum card i'ld suggest is a 850XT. i had to reduce a few settings so it did quite well with SH4. they're likely on the cheap side now

Ive just picked up a Geforce 7600GT which runs it quite comfortably at 1280x1024 and all settings maxed (post processing and full screen glare are off because I dont like them ;) )

I have a GeForce 7300 GT. Does what it needs to do

The XTX is the noise offender. A 1950 Pro will be much quieter and cheaper. You can find one for well under $200, same for the Geforce 7900GS. Probably under $150 if you look for rebates.
