If anyone was having trouble updating their x1300 card like I was with 7.8, ATI seems to have fixed the problem with 7.9. I noticed on ATI's website that the drivers in the search section for the x1300 were not listed as grouped with the x1550 like they were for 7.8 (when doing an update search they were grouped together ie x1300/x1550). Now they are listed seperately. Not sure if they had people downloading the wrong drivers or not with 7.8.
New versions always improve FPS slightly, so cant wait to test.
What do you guys think is better, these new drivers by ATI or my current Omega drivers 3.8.330? :hmm:

Hey Hitman im going to ask a totally Noob question, but ur omega drivers, do they fix anything with the sun for the older ati cards. In regards to 7.9 i dont see a fps improvement on my boat.

No mention of the SHIV issues in the section for Vista 32 either. Not even in the known issues section! Are these people listening to their customer base....

Not AFAIK, they are just optimized drivers :hmm:

If you set the AA mode higher than 4x, you will loose the glare effects. Also checking Gamma Correction causes you to loose the glare effect
Thank you very much, sir! My last nVidia was 7800GTX so I've already forgotten a few things, but this was really helpful.Thank you once again....of course it's working....

Huh. Didn't know that about the 'gamma corrected' thing.
Well THAT explains a few things!
"Gamma-corrected" AA is considered a major feature, but it came at a slight performance hit. The Radeon X1K-series cards always have it enabled - you cannot disable it - which would explain the lack of AA on those cards! IE., a feature added to these cards to give them a quality advantage over their competitors turns out to be what breaks FSAA in Sh4? Now *that* is quality QA testing!

I was trying to get this confirmed in the previous ATI Catalyst Drivers released thread from somebody. Didn't got it untill now but yeah, this would seem logical reason to lacking glare effect. But on another hand, that "Gamma correction" should be off when AA is set to off so why is the glare effects still broken?
Another thing is the amount of shimmering. For some reason just even with the basic settings, I'm able to reduce it more with Nvidia than with ATI

last time one of these updates came out, i downloaded it, i think it was 7.7, and when i did what the instructions said, my computer got messed up, it kept restarting itself and i couldent run anything, ended up having to give to a guy at the store to reformat it put the basic stuff back on, now i have 6.14 driver that he put on, so i rather not take the chance again and download another update, just pay more money to get it fixed again if it messes up, when the one i have now works fine, if it auotupdated itself, would not be so bad. now maybe it was not the driver but a virus that came with it or before it in another download, i dont know.
