finely desided to do the GWX/Commander thing and true to all palst additions of mods...it's all messed up.
At night the sky is pure black & the clouds are white along with white water & trees along the shoreline.
out to sea the water is a sickning brown mud looking mess.
The stick sh3 sub I could get the boat to go straight down & settle on the bottom.. This install will not.
The torpedo tubes will not open via the Q key.
There are a few other things that are not right & the feel of things is not good.
I'm going to uninstall GWX & commandeer & just go back to the sh3 /14b.
installing stuff just never works out for me...ever!
Were you using SH3Commander before installing GWX? What you described sounds a bit like you have installed the 16km Visibility mod on top of GWX without rolling back SH3Commander.

O.k. have SH3 reinstalled and ran it & worked just fine. torp doors (plus a few other things that were buggy) opened just fine.
Now... ***I******* I installed Commander only and ran my career out of it, and desided to try the GWX again would I then have to uninstall everything before I did the gwx install?
Make sure you use the rollback option in commander.
For the rest I wouldn't know am busy reinstalling the game again :)
When you uninstall SHIII, are making sure you delete all the remaining SHIII folders on your system. You probably have, but that may be a possible source of problems. This includes removing Ubisoft/SHIII folders from your registry.
OK where are you at now? SHIII run from commander only? Any other mods? Are you in port? If you are not in port, return to base before uninstalling or installing any mods.
If you have any mods enabled prior to GWX being installed you need to remove them. If not then make sure that you roll back SH3Commander settings before you install GWX.
Once GWX is installed and before you run SH3Commander run GWX and check that it is working. Then run SH3Commander with a new career.

Papa, my suggestion is to unistall commander before putting in GWX, then follow the installation instructions from GWX for SH3 Commander. PM me when your done with those steps, because I have a MOD that brigtens the sky a bit, and would be more than happy to email it too you.

Hhey Spruence M...thanks
Here is what I did...Again!
Uninstalled sh3 commander...
Uninstalled SH3 & deleted those files in my docs & the ubisoft folder
ran defrag.
Ran "TuneUp Utilities 2007",
which has a seperate utility for going into the registry and finding all things that are at a dead end & deleteing them. (all the left over pieces) It really cleans things up well.
installed sh3 from cd & ran a single mission.
Installed the 1.4b patch & ran a single mission.
I made a folder on my desktop called GWX and then I
re-downloaded GWX.exe (installer) and all 5 bin files plus GWX103.exe into that folder.
I then ran the installer from that folder on my desktop...I assume that that installer is installing those five Bin files into the SH3 game folder which is in the ubisoft folder.
I then ran the game & did a single mission..rebooted & then installed the GWX103.exe.
then ran another single mission, rebooted and then...
Installed SH3Cmdr27.exe... I opened the file & closed it. rebooted...Installed the GWX102Cfg4SH3Cmdr.zip which I unzipped directly into the existing commander cfg file...
Things seem to operate o.k., but I haven't really played with it yet..
I do know that the colors of Brown Water & sky at certain times of evening & that pitch black sky with white clouds & water must be part of the mod itself because my ati X1900XT is beautiful in everything else, and my drivers are just fine... do not need to screw with ati's drivers!
Now, if this isn't the procedure for doing this install, then I would love to hear just what is correct because I have no more ideas...lol..
yes! please send me the colors fix.. where exactly does it go?
Also, are there any of those mods in commander that I shouldn't do? Ones that may have caused problems or aren't worth fooling with?
I do know from past experience that the more mods you run the more problems that you will have...

Did you rollback SH3commander before uninstalling ?
Pretty sure if you didnt and didnt remove all SH3commander files then SH3commander will reload its last set of files just as it did before you unistalled everything

I think I got all of the commander files deleted, but one never knows for sure.
it seems to be working, but then I wouldn't know if it wasn't. I just don't know enough about it to kknow just what is right & what is wrong.
Nother question though.
Hydrophones; With this GWX mod I can ***NOT***hear anything on the instrument myself until the ship is in sight at 5400meters. then I start to faintly pick up sound. I have everything that I know of on max, but no sound until the ship is in sight anyway..
The S.O. operator only gives me a ship call out when he is around 14km or closer.
Yes...I am below 10m, 20m, 30m, 50m or 70m or below that or above that in calm seas or rough seas... I click on the S.O. mans black round kknob try different places, but I only get a very faint sound when he is about to run over me...
Is there a place in the cfg files or somewhere to turn up the volumn?
This has made a slow game 75% slower..actually it has taken ships right out of the game.

Remember that life at sea was no picnic. Try the GWX Spysat 1.03 for assured convoy encounters. Or operation Spinneratz, *Spelling*. Thats a little more tough to get working though, gave me such a hard time I scrapped it. Looked nice though.
