Is it possible to mod or configure sh4 to run at the 800x600 resolution?

In responce to your Sig. The germans had better Torpedos that would expload on impact. Ours wouldnt. I wonder how many of those twelve hit there Targets but didnt detonate.

It is/was in no way an attempt to make American subs seem inferior.

Germany had very strong and reliable equipment. (the modern american helmets are based on the wehrmacht helmets, your shock and awe is basically blitzkrieg 2.0)

The fact that america went from such a small army at the begining of the war, to such a well organised machine is quite admirable.

In your video card control panel, try bringing down the setting to 800x600 and forcing an over-ride. If you are running a nVidia GPU, have you tried nHancer?

Is 800x600 due to your graphic card limitations, monitor or SH4 Graphic Settings requirements and running 1024x768 4:3 60Hz? What FPS are you getting now? You may want to trade off some eye candy...

Sorry off topic a little... but it's not that germans had better torpedos (ok maybe they did, a little) but it's they had the same problems that the americans had but only earler. The germans had problems with the magnetic exploder and depth keeping back in '39/40/41, infact the same problems the Mk. 14 had in '41/42.

The reason i wanted 800 600 was so that i could run the game with more eyecandy. At the moment im on 1280 800 (laptop) which is a really crap resolution fps wise. Do you mean alt tabbing and going to 800 600? am at work so cant try it just now. I looked around in the sh4 cfg files but only found resolutions for the movies in it.

Try 1024x768 4:3 60Hz and adjusting 'some' settings. I would also suggest looking into a different computer with a faster GPU to run SH4 to your liking, as it does have it's minimun requirements.

No.

There are so many things to be placed on the screen in this game, that even 1024x768 is not enough. You will never find a place for the MessageLog (the draggable window where all messages are displayed) in 1024x768 so that it doesn't hide any controls in all stations. And 800x600 has 39% less pixels than 1024x768.

Trying to run a game at 800x600 to get more eye candy is an oxymoron. Heck, 1024x768 is pretty outdated in itself.
