View Full Version : My sub is leaking for no reason!?

Alright, here is my question. For the last week and a half my sub has been leaking water at a ceiling fitting on the bridge, and another ceiling fitting in the conning tower. The funny thing is I have not sustained any damage and my damage control team has been doing their routine maitenance. It doesn't even show up my damage report screen either, and while it's not a threat to my sub it is just very annoying. What gives? Has anyone had this trouble or heard about it? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you to those that read and respond!

You've not sustained any damage? Meaning what, no systems internally have required repair, or you've not been attacked at all?

A bomb goes off as you crash dive. the sub takes no damage that requires fixing---it is still possibly damaged. Say it takes 100 damage points to penetrate the hull and damage some internal system. If you take 99 points, nothing inside is damaged. The hull still takes 99 points damage, and you will see leaks, etc.

Go home and dock. Try not to dive deep.

If you see leaks in command room or conning tower you have somehow sustained damage. Personaly I don't let it bother me to much, keep it in the back of my mind, don't dive deeper than 160' in my Sboat, attack safe targets lone merchants an such, I can't go home empty handed :D :arrgh!:

Nada, nothing! I have not been shot at, depth charged, and no system repairs needed ( on this patrol that is ). How it started is, I finished what I needed to for the night then saved my game and went to bed. Next day, I load the saved game and all of a sudden the sub is leaking and I see absolutely no signs of damage anywhere! Is it possible that this file is somehow corrupted? I am working on my eight objective within this patrol (so the file has become rather lenghty) but I am not sure if that really has anything to do with it. Anyway like I said, I am not worried about it, it is just more annoying than anything I just wanted to know if others have had this issue or not.

If you save game to close to land or map contacts, you will receive hidden damage, not sure this is your case, but is someting to keep in mind :arrgh!:

I have noticed that if you have crewmen already in your DCT slot, theyll always take care of "the little things" so dont take it as your going to sink in the next week;)

Eight Objectives?? How long have you been on patrol? Are you patched to 1.3?
What mods do you use if any? You have never been attacked on this patrol?
Many unanswered questions here to give you a knowledgeable answer...

No, no...I have been chased many times, but I manage to keep evading them. They do depth charge but never at my location or anywhere even close to my sub that would cause damage. Also, I NEVER attempt to shoot down aircraft, unless I get suprised. This patrol is my second with this newly assigned sub (Gato Class) and I have been on patrol a month and a half. I recently stopped in Freemantle for a refit on my way back to my home port of Pearl Harbor. I am just outside of the Japanese air cover from Rabaul, North of the Solomon Islands. As for the mods I use, here they are:

Sky Environment MOD
Slow Smoke V3
Combined Uniform MOD 1.0
MaP_Table_MOD 1.3
SI Interior Kit
SI Periscope & TBT Interface Kit
SI Recognition Kit
SI Optics Kit
Smaller Seabed Rocks MOD
Smaller Seabed Plants MOD
Natural Sinking Mechanics V1.0
GFX Noise MOD
All Medals Beta MOD
Silent Service 1.2 Graphics MOD
Captain Midnights' CBS NEWS Sound MOD
Map Labels 1.3
R&L Interior Periscopes V1.3
Pull-Down Pacific Map V1.4
Living Breathing Ocean MOD

Then of course my sub skins are replaced by Foobars' Hi-Res skins. Oh, and yes I am playing V1.3 of SH4.

I have had those leaks too but usually after a close call with minor damage
reports. I have always been able to dive to at least 200 feet with no further
reports of major damage sinking the boat. Now, what all those mods do and
their reaction to each other, I cannot say. I always carefully test any single
mod I install before I use/cancel it. I have not used any large super mods
because if something went wrong, I don't know what caused it and would have
to uninstall the entire super mod. Did you get your Gato early in the war?
Maybe before it was supposed to be available? What is your date?

"Sixty five feet and report your leaks!"

(sorry, I just hear that in my head when I read the thread title!)

I was kinda thinkin the same thing. But more along the lines of all submarines leak.

But I know what the op is talking about because Ive seen it myself.

You mentioned you stopped for a refit, was the leaks before refit or after ? if you took minor damage before refit, refit only gives fuel and torpedos, conning tower upgrades, does not repair your sub :arrgh!:

It started appox. 40+ hrs. before my refit. I don't really know at this point, I think it just might have been corrupted (game save).

Well, I came across this today in a search because the exact same thing just happened to me!

I was in the middle of attacking a task force. Submerged to 200ft and was running 2/3s. I often steer the ship from the outside using the camera, and I was nowhere near any of the Japanese destroyers. Was probably about 2000ft from the nearest merchant vessel. As I was lining up my attack, I saved the game. Periscope was down, etc. As a newbie I was using a pretty fresh installation of SH4 + 1.4 patch. Ship was pristine prior to save game.

Upon loading this, the first 2-3 times I loaded it was fine, but after that, everytime afterwards when it loaded all of a sudden I would get reports after reports of damage, and 2/3s of my entire DTC panel was red!!!

Bug?

All I could do was use an earlier save game and play on...
