Im trying to get 1 of my old games working, really old. Now it appears that i have to download DirectX 5 and 6. Does anyone know where i can download DirectX 5 and 6?

Ive tried google but it all seems to point to articles about it and nothing to do with actually downloading them:damn:

Help:p

EDIT: Ive found DX6 and im downloading it, so all i need now is DX5. :)

Here you go: http://f176.planetquake.gamespy.com/dl/dx5core.exe

But will it work? I thought you couldn't downgrade DirectX.

Thanks.:D

And to be honest i dont really know, but im willing to try it. If it dosnt work then theres nothing i can do, but ill give it a shot anyway. And if anything goes wrong i can just go back to DX9 which i have on my Drivers Disc.

It's a fair bet that some of your old game disks will have older verions of DX on them. Worth a look if you can see the date on the boxes and tally it with a specific DX version's release date.

And yes - your game will have an older version of directx on it.

Thanks for your help:up:

Its working fine now:D All i needed to do was install DX5, and download a No-CD Crack, Then run it in compatibilty mode for Windows 98. Problem solved:rock:

Come to think of it, i dont know why i didnt try that in the first place, ive been trying to get it to work on and off for about 2 years.:rotfl:
