I am needing help from the Community in resolving a program / Mod display discrepancy.
Recently unpacking a Mod called "New GWX Sea v1.2" from one of the disks sent by those
who are my beneficence, I was eagerly awaiting more impressive embellishment to the world
of the u-boat commander.
I am using a patched SH3 with an up-to-date GWX overlay. With the Generic Mod Enabler I
am loading the following:
GWX – Captain America’s Officer Icons
GWX – Integrated Orders
GWX – No Medals on Crew
GWX – Reduced Positive Buoyancy
GWX – Stay Alert _crew fix_v1c
GWX – Main movie – ‘Das Boot’
DD_VisibleMines_V1.0
TypeVII_Open_Hatch
Peri_Correct
TypeVII_Open_Hatch_HiRes
So at the bottom of the list, and with no file conflicts, goes New GWX Sea v1.2.
I start the simulation with SH3Commander Release 2.7 which was suitably "rolled back" before any changes by me, bringing in all the files without reservation, and lastly SH3Weather intervenes with its meteorological options.
Expressly purchased for SH3, I run with a 3.06GHz Pentium 4, 1.00 GB RAM, video card is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (driver version 6.14.10.9371), and Windows XP Professional.
I am currently working a mid 1941 career in a VIIB, conveniently prior to starting my second patrol from St. Nazaire. After upgrading the hydrophones and batteries from the Office, I set out to keep an appointment with AK.
Shifting the View Topside, the water looks inviting, but with calm, clear skies there is nothing distinguishing about it. So I Fatal the program with the intent of upping the ante. SH3Weather’s meteorological options come in handy here.
By declaring weather conditions before the simulation starts I put the New GWX Sea v1.2 through its paces. By choosing a little wind, one can hear and almost feel a warm mistral as the boat leaves the bunker. The water begins to display character. By choosing overcast conditions, looking out from the bridge reveals a green hue of an approaching storm front. The water is sullen and foreboding. As the lightning has begun striking frequently, I accept the conditions and will let the simulation play out the change without my further intervention.
Moving below deck, the shifting and swaying sight of the crew draws my sympathy as we are all cantillated by the engines’ roar, cranked up at the file source by me to approach that cyclonic realism. Even in the din, the thunder can be heard through the hull, a sound that unfailingly heralds rain. So up I go to witness the final expression of the New Sea, only to receive a shock worse than being struck by lightning.
The rain is tainted yellow! It’s golden! The NVIDIA Software has an option to adjust the video parameters to suit specific programs, SH3 being one of them. I select this and I know that everything display-wise is as it should be. In fact the simulation runs without a hitch. But instead of experiencing the fury of a tempest, I’m left with the impression of some humongous Valkyrie astraddle the boat and emptying her bladder!
but not some unshaved, dumpy bimbo with pitted skin; a well-toned, smooth, firmly plump nubile, a sultry timbre to her soft moans that keep time with the beginning gyrations of her pelvis, the perspiration of her ecstasy forming on her round body, the moment of her rapture signaled by her vacant stare, her glazed eyes half closed, the tip of her moist tongue barely visible between her parted lips
uh
Anyway, I remember in BASIC that altering numeric values in the appropriate part of a given code changes displayed colors. Is this something that can be manipulated in this New Sea, or might already be done and available for download, or does this join a long list of unused and unusable Mods ?
Thank you for all the support I continue to receive from Our Subsim Community.

While I have nothing to offer toward correction of your golden showers dilemma, I really like your writing style :know:. Anyone who can take an ignoble bodily function directed toward their boat and crew by a gigantic woman of questionable intention, all the while stating the fact in such poetic flow, deserves to be helped . C'mon, somebody...lend the man a hand before his boat stinketh.

And so another Mod is relegated to the refuse pile.
I have non too few questions that go unanswered; intimidating I suppose.

Intimidation? No.
To all, concerning user support, GWX and additional mods etc...
1) Often questions concerning, "Is this mod or that mod compatible with "X" or "y"? ...are impossible to answer without studying the inner workings of the additional mods in question... and having access to the builder.
There are thousands of mods available for SH3... and subsequent release progressions of many. Speaking for myself, I will not spend hours/days/a lifetime deconstructing other mods to determine compatability, when usually incompatabilities exist. This is why we say, "Use additional mods on top of GWX at your own risk." if we didn't say this, we could very easily spend ALL our time awake... figuring out what this and that does.
2) One question at a time. If you line up 14 questions, you'll get fewer responses due to the amount of time required to answer the whole shabang. Easy does it.
3) If I have to read a whole damn page of stuff just to get at a question... No offense Reverie... but your super-long posts just make my eyes hurt. I don't want to read eons of Hannibal Lector prose to extract the point or question... so I tend to avoid them... and the fava beans.
4) USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!! Regarding older mods, someone somewhere has probably already answered the same question. Give our guys a break and USE IT... or READ THE FRACKING MANUAL if it concerns GWX itself! (You can also use the "FIND" function on PDF docs... or just scroll through the table of contents and click on the page number!)
5) Regarding the giant Valkyrie pissing on the boat... Queue the Twilight Zone theme music please.:shifty:

Take a back seat, son; let someone else do the driving for a spell.
You read as though you feel the world is pointing a finger at you.
Nowhere in that post is your name mentioned, unless it’s that GWX letter combination;
like waving a red flag in front of a bull.
The post is addressed to all and sundry, particularly those who read the post.
As far as the content being extensive, you don’t have to read it.
I receive more compliments than derision on my input to this forum, and it is a forum.
As a contributing And paying Member, I merely seek to interact and entertain.
It is up to the Moderator(s) to decide whether or not my strings are untidy.
I usually don’t bother with rebuttal; it expectedly leaves hecklers huffing and puffing
in their wet pants, their lower lip quivering. Yet I took the time to review posts of your
own in the archive. Some of yours have gone some distance, as well. So I’ll just cap this episode
as your bad day tossing burgers.
Meanwhile, the bally rain is STILL Yellow!

Well first off "Dad"... You've aleady indicated on a number of occasions that you do infact use GWX.
So I thought I'd share with our good readers a few things that make sense.
Then again such things are lost on a great many spoiled users who have enjoyed our constant attention and hand-holding. All this inspite of the fact that many just plucked SH3 out of the bargain bin for five bucks and came straight here to enjoy all the copious bounty of modifications made freely available by modders... without so much as firing stock SH3 once.
No doubt many of the members who visit here also have perverted fetishes... but it doesn't mean we share them on a forum read by all ages either. The recurring urinary theme is odd to most of us to say the least.
Tis a good thing I'm not a heckler etc. I might take offense to the other dribble... However, I'm sure neither one of us is "pointing the finger" or trying to speak in derisive tones.
Its a good thing Neal is watching this thread after you reported it. Things could get ugly.

If I had spoken to you in derisive tones, I might need to apologize.
Instead, I leave that to you as the shoe best fits your foot.
Though I am sure that us poor, plainspeakin', unwashed, unshaven, burger-flippin' common workin' folk would be a waitin' Hell to freeze over before finding an apology. Such things would break the jaw of the arrogant, wouldn't they?
When one casts a sullen eye and languid gesture of dismissal at the little people... as the meaning of your postings could be construed to convey... one could very easily see you gazing down in derision from the lofty heights.
Concerning GWX matters, user support is a privelidge... not a right. You've been the beneficiary of assistance from GWX project associates a number of times.
If you feel that directions on how users can help themselves are out of line...

You know, you can measure the maturity of people on this forum by the way they adulty & sensibly construct responses & discussions.:rotfl:
As far as I can see Kpt.Lehmann was just reafirming the stance of the Devs as far as 3rd party mod compatibilty goes. It's never guaranteed that it will work in conjuction with your files.
Now, in an attempt to end this. Reverie, I assume this MOD that you got on CD from a member here at SS has a README. Does it tell you who built it? If it does, contact them via PM or a thread that is actually titled so that they will instantly know it's directed at them. Secondly, what does this mod do?:hmm: While I appreciate that many people like to 'try out'/'test' many different mods because the name looks cool, how do you know that it's even labelled correctly. Just because I create a mod called 'Nude Mermaids for GWX' does not mean that I haven't actully bundled up all the best Hairy Gay Porn stars that are available on the net. See my Point?
End of the day, if it don't work, ditch it.

Not ignoring you, danlisa. It's Dove Season; there must be priorities. The Mod was removed days ago. If you know off the top of your head what file to look in for shades / tones / weather effect, and if the parameter is a hex value / binary / key word that can be changed simply enough, then I may dabble with it. Otherwise it's with the shipwrecks.Reverie

@Reverie
The people over at GWX give a level of user support to those on this fine forum that is second to none. Of that I am sure you would agree. And as such, when a problem or a request for help and advice is posted with a clear indication that GWX is involved, it is only to be expected that someone from GWX will respond.
In my book that is nothing more than demonstrating how consistent and equitable every GWX user is treated here on SS.
Over the past few years I have dabbled with external addittions to 'test the water' (no pun intended) you might say.
Some have worked and some have not, meaning the eventual consequence, would on occasion necessitate the need to do a total re-install.
You made the initial reference to using GWX and whilst I admire your choice of mod I am confident you will most likely have read and digested the GWX manual.
Any mod used in addittion too said GWX is obviously at the risk to the installer.
I also recognise and appreciate you have thrown the mod overboard in recent days.
Those of us at GWX understand the frustrations experienced in times like this by all of us gamers.
However, I don't think this exchange of posts is conducive within the parameters of what most members of this forum are accustomed to reading as a means of a constructive exchange of positive and helpful advice/guidance.
Surely by your very use of the noun (son), you must have realised how the intended recipient would have perceived such a word.
We all have a choice in our game setups, namely, ditch either or both of the offending mods.
You have exercised your choice.........let sleeping dogs lie.
The GWX gang, not only have created a fabulous mod, FREE OF CHARGE, but continue to support it a lot better than any game publisher I know. If one has problems, all one needs is to post it on this forum and , TARAAAA, usually within minutes someone is there to assist you. What more can anyone ask for?
Thank you GWXers. I salute you.

Ah, jimbuna. Sometimes it seems as though the Battle of the Atlantic is still raging.
Certainly the cure will be total video communication, and get rid of we antiquated dial-ups. Words can definitely be the source of any and many fall outs. So I have let loose of the leash, but not without setting the record straight.
While your loyalty to your young friend is commendable and enviable, it is misguided in this instance. It sounds like the old schoolyard He pushed me first routine, but truth be told, any objective reader can read that he jumped down my throat, not the other way around.
And while the adult response would have been to ignore it, I've reached that age where I feel that others need to carry the responsibility of what they do and say. I'm too old to turn the other cheek, but not too old to show it.
The trouble is, I can admit when I'm wrong, but your young friend can't. Prior to making my initial response, I contacted the Moderator as a matter of procedure to see if I was out of line. I wasn't called on infraction, but your friend was notified and took it personal. So many of these kids feel they can type derisive commentary with immunity. This is a forum, not a serfdom. I don't owe him any fealty or homage. And I wasn't addressing him in the first place.
jimbuna, you can testify on my behalf that I've had nothing but positive wishes and good will for all I come across here. You can also testify that I can get confused as to who I'm talking to at times, but all you Modders look alike to me. :)
The mistake I did make, and what your friend pointed out to me is / was my conception of our audience. It should be obvious to you by now that I post entries to entertain more than anything. However, and call me senile if you wish, I erred in not realising I wasn't in the company of a motley bunch of old sailors. It never occured to me that kits would be part of this forum. My adult humor in this instance was a bit salty (pardon my pun), and more suited to the guys at the shop. Even though I wasn't called on it by the Moderator, I should write him / them confessing that I feel it was a mistake. I'm not with the guys anymore.
I appreciate your oil on the water, and wish you and yours the best of everything. I am currently working on an extended piece, not to irritate those who despise them, but rather to clear my own contention.
I guess I still have feelings, after all. :sunny:
