:D Enroute to AN14.At AN34 pick of small merchant,AN26 sink medium cargo.
Upon reaching AN14,starting patrol watch officer sights ship long range.
Appears to be dead ahead cannot tell to dark even with 1/2 moon high in
sky, finally can make out slight image looks like head on or going away.Line
up UZO to 0 degree, target remains dead on 0 degree.Cannot tell range as
all my settings are manual no WO help.watch sights second
ship long range,DE 180 degrees aft heading south. We go to periscope depth
and continue on west. The target is closeing hard dead on 0 degrees at
1000 meters fire #1 fish and go hard starboard, direct hit on large cargo,
never saw such a huge explosion. She went down in less than 5 min.
The thing that was amazing to me is the odds of a sighting a target dead
on 0 degrees and it maintaind that setting for at least 7km with only one
adjustment at 1500m.Did not know a head on hit had such destructive
result on a large ship.:o

From what i have seen it varies with the Large Cargo ships. I dont think i have ever hit one from dead on unless it was a keel shot though.

If you hit them from a 90 degree angle up front though they seem to give you that "big-badda-boom" we all know and love.
