Spotted a Fuji Class in a Convoy and fired 3 torps at 1200meters and all missed!! She must have spotted the wake - anyway - may get her next time as I am in the process of doing a go round to get in front of the convoy!
Man she is huge!! very well done in SH3 as well. Hopefully I will take her down, want to attack again before the sun comes up.
Funny thing is that she didn't do any depth charging and left it to the other two destroyers in the convoy. :shifty:

It was probably gaurding against surface raiders, plus cruisers dont carry DG's...
Use elecric torps the next time!

The same happened to me once, although I managed to hit her three times on seperate occasions...she never went down. Bloody good damage control!

get to between 400 and 300 meters. they dont have time to take evasive at that range. do the attack when it is dark too.

Ships in this game are alot more manuverable then in real life.
Theirs no way that a Cruiser would be able to take proper evasive action if they just spotted the torpedo at 800 meters.
the best they could do is attempt to turn the boat at an angle to ricochet the torp but that dident always work.
Ships also speed up ALOT faster in the game.

Yes; it's annoying. If I'm not mistaken it is to help minimize problems with collisions due to poor AI. I was testing a freighter's damage model yesterday and that thing kept accelerating like a Ferrari once it spotted my torpedoes. :nope:

Silent hunter 2 did all ship speeds and stuff authentically, but this caused alot of collisions due to poor AI that was later fixed

Defense against german surface raiders.
which could sink ships ALOT faster then a sub.

HAHAHAHA I caught up to her at 00:45 - had to wiggle my way into the columns of ships to avoid being rammed by a merchie - sent two of my electrics at 1000m and both hit - she titled to her side and sank in a minute!!!

Early war was quite common to have cruisers or battleships in convoys to guard against surface raiders
The battleship Ramillies (Captain Arthur D. Read) to the South of Cape Farewell was also instructed to leave the convoy she was escorting (HX-127) and "proceed so as to make contact with enemy from westwards
Dorchester was on convoy duty and detached herself to join in the pursuit.

On subject, sort of...
Why use gas torps? Anyone? Is there any benefit to them? I always load up with 100% electrics and the only disadvantage I can see is that they only have a range of three clicks, but I typically fire from around 1km so don't see this as an issue. Am I missing something? (no pun intended)

Quite simply...gas torps were faster and had a much longer range :yep:
