Wolves at War is a closeknit community of WWII subsimmers who use SH3 to roleplay the career of a Kriegsmarine WWII Uboat Captain. This is the third go-round, for Wolves at War, and many of us played in it's precusor iBlitz before that.
There is a BDU, Flotillas, Flotilla Commanders, Promotions, Awards, and individual Patrol Order issued by BDU to each submarine.
If this sound like something you might be interested in, check out our Website, WIKI, and Forum.

And you will find that this might be the original (or close to it); WAW is a descendant of the Iblitz Campaigns for SH2.
As far as I know, only Pacific Thunder for SH1 (still being played, by the way) is older.

Its true.... we've come a long way since then and so has SH ;) Wolves at War III has made some major leaps over even WaW II. We've implemented some pretty good features. Looking forward to kicking off another campaign, the best one we have had yet. Hope to see everyone there.

IIRC, Pen, I'm not sure it has to be 100%. I don't think manual targetting is forced upon you. Might have changed though.:-?
No manual targeting is not forced on you and, you can use the external camara to take pictures too.:yep:
Looks well cool, and sort of nerdy... but... well its not that thats putting me off its the "Must be at 100% realism" part.
I think our presence here qualifies us all for nerdy :hmm:
You have the option of manual TDC or not, it is your choice. The external camera can be used, however not to give you a tactical advantage or during combat. We are not a shooter 100k tonnage club, we try to stick to historical realsim where possible, and I realize that is not everyones cup of tea. ;)

Patrol 1 will start on Friday.
But it will last a week longer than other patrols, so folks can continue to joing for the next week or so, an still have time to finish Patrol 1 if they choose.

BTW when you guys talk about "manual TDC" are you referring to the WO Assist option?
Heibges
08-29-07, 10:21 AM
Members are free to use Auto TDC, Manual TDC with WO assist, or Manual TDC without WO Assist.
And discussions about which setup is the most realistic are generally not tolerated. We haven't had a flame war in 4 years, so that is another thing we have going for us.
Adolf von Bummer & U31 ready to roll! Let's go already!!! :p

U-50 Reporting In. Tried to sign up, have not gotten a reply. Although I did'nt read all the rules before I registered and Did not choose a Germanic name, I would like to know if I should/could re-register to join up.
It sounds really fun. Cept I would like to finish the war! 12 Patrols might put me on shore duty too soon.

I have the exact same question. How does it work? Do you start with a fresh new commander when your first kaleun gets a desk job, and continue the war that way?
Spruence M

They did say in the rules that he could be called back up for the release of the Type XXI.

Yes after 10 or 12 patrols or so, you can opt for a desk job, or maybe even a staff position.
And you can come back at the end, for a Type XXI possibley.
Training mission completed and report has been sent! Waiting to be assigned to a flotilla and an u-boat. Just in time for the war to begin. :D

Trust me, it's great! You really should give it a try. It gives you a new kinda fear of 'dying' as if you die, it's over, make a new kaleun or quit alltogether. What would be more scary than come under attack on your 12th patrol? ;)
Cant wait to get to the 29th Flottille and make a new trip to Valletta, I have some unfinished business with them Tommies. :-?

Also, (of course it's optional) manual targeting isn't as tough as it first appears and once you feel the thrill of having sunk a target all on your own calculations, you'll never go back to auto-targeting. Try it!! :D
Anyway, come on over!! You'll love it!!

Sink 'em all guys!:arrgh!:
Ah, just found this pic from the screenshot thread, taken by me during the night of 5-6th of June 1944, WaW I.
Caption says:
Photo taken by U-264 just few hours before leaving Brest to join the other uboats ordered to sink the allied invasion fleet in Normandy. U-264 was sunk on the 7th of June by a Royal Navy destroyers.
http://img320.imageshack.us/img320/2917/brestmoon1kw.jpg
IIRC, I came under attack by allied bombers too in Brest shortly after that pic.

Now that you mention it, yes, I was. I still remember how certain I was that I was going to get creamed in there too. Talk about dicey!!! :o

I don't understand why you got confused to be honest :o It's really simple 1. You create an account 2. You report to the 5th Flotilla and download the Training Mission 3. You do the mission 4. You report your results back to the 5th Flotilla and 5. You wait for your orders to arrive.

Sorry no, I tried manual targeting and I hate it tremendously... It does my head in I find it way too fiddly and irritating to persevere with it. I'd rather leave it to automatic, as in reality inputting a solution into a TDC was the work of two not one.
However you've sold me, I'll come on over and have a peek about. :)

1. Pick a name (Something germanic)
2. Register to the forums with that name
3. Register to the website with the same name you picked for the forum
4. Once your website account has been activated, login and make new captain (Press the 'Create new captain' link)
5. Input your captain's date of birth, place of birth etc. and change the status of your boat to 'Training' and pick 5th flotilla. Dont input U-# as BdU assigns you the boat and the number after training.
6. Report to the 5th flotilla (forums) and download the training missions.
7. Play the singlemission named 'WaW Training'.
8. Post your war diary of the training patrol to the corresponding thread in the 5th flotilla forum and wait for you to be assigned your combat flotilla (1st or 7th atm) and your boat.
That should get you started. If any questions rises, you can ask, we wont bite. ;)

I've read the wiki and I didn't get the answer I was looking for, so I'll ask it here. Is there realtime multiplayer wolfpack action involved, like when you play at ubi.com? Or is it more roleplaying and imagination? (Sorry to put it bluntly.) :88)
P.S.: Sink them all!
